Crime

California voters passed proposition 47 at the last election and as I predicted it has been a disaster.  It used to be that stealing a car or a gun was automatically a felony and people would go to state prison for those crimes.

Now unless the car or the gun are worth more than $950 the crime is just a misdemeanor and it rates a ticket.  With all the hoopla over gun violence, I would think we should be increasing the penalties for using a gun in a crime or for stealing a gun.

Criminals get their guns by stealing them, not going to gun stores.  The penalty for stealing a gun should be ten years in prison.  Make the crime so expensive that criminals would never want to do it.  Instead we have made it so easy, that they just get a ticket and go home.  It's foolishness; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
