What The People Want

In a democracy the people are supposed to vote for representatives who then carry out the wishes of the people.  The judges insure the laws meet the standards of laws in the constitution and that the agencies of the government follow the laws.  The executive administers the laws and does the people's business.

Yet, in recent years, the government has not followed the will of the people.  The courts have made laws rather than interpret laws.  The majority of the people wanted prayer in the public schools.  Yet the courts took that right away.

The majority of the people don't want welfare to be a lifetime career and an inter-generational program, yet that's happened and we still have the poor.  The people wanted jobs, not jobs shipped overseas, yet the executive keeps bringing more free trade agreements.  Our government needs to do a better job of doing what the people want, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
