Water Safety

http://www.cdc.gov/HomeandRecreationalSafety/Water-Safety/waterinjuries-factsheet.html

How can we prevent accidental drownings of children?  Teach your kids how to swim.  Even babies can learn to swim.  I think every elementary school in the nation should have a swimming pool and should teach every child how to swim.

Put barriers around the swimming pool.  Pools without a fence are much more dangerous for children.  Always supervise kids when they are swimming.  Supervision means sit next to the pool and watch them in the water.  Don't use the phone, or play a video game or text.  Watch them.

Don't use water toys as flotation devices.  Have the proper tools to conduct a rescue.  A long pole to pull people out of the pool without getting into the water.  Learn CPR so you can perform rescue breathing on anyone who drowns.  Water safety is critical if we really want to save the children; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
