Labor Participation Rate

http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS11300000

The labor participation rate is the number of people in the population that are not employed, and not looking for a job.  The unemployment rate is the number of people in the population who want to work, but can't find a job.

The ideal is the number of people who are unemployed will go down and the number of people who are participating will go up.  So the maximum number of people are working.  When our economy is booming unemployment goes down and the participation rate goes up.

During the Obama Administration, the unemployment rate has been slowly going down.  The President and Main Stream Media give the impression that it is good news.  It is only good news if the people are getting jobs.  Most of them are not getting jobs.  They are falling off the grid and are no longer looking for work.  The labor participation rate shows where these people went; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
