Missiles

The United States has proof that the Russians have violated the INF treaty that prohibits intermediate range, ground launched cruise missiles.  These are a concern, because the Russians could base them near the border with Western and NATO nations and launch conventional or even nuclear strikes against those nations with little or no warning.

President Obama, as usual, has immediately said we will not built or deploy our own weapons of this type, just because the Russians are doing that.  Typical behavior of President Obama who apparently has no idea how to negotiate anything.  Start off by giving up your most valuable bargaining chip, even before the negotiation begins.

This treaty has been in place since 1987.  Only because President Reagan began fielding the Pershing II missile in Europe did the Soviet Union bow to pressure and negotiate away their and our existing missiles and agree not to deploy any more.  President Obama should have played hard ball with Putin and deployed similar American missiles to Europe.  President Obama does not understand either international politics, history, or military hardware, so we are left with a Russia that will likely deploy new missiles with the US doing nothing; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
