A football player punched his girlfriend into unconsciousness and was suspended indefinitely.  Fans of the NFL team continue to wear the jersey of the suspended player.  They continue to support him, despite proof that he beat her up in a elevator.  Both the player and the woman admit the incident and it was caught on tape.

What is wrong with our people that they think it's okay to beat up a woman and continue on as if nothing happened?  He should not only be kicked off of his team, but he should be in jail.  Players who commit felonies, who participate in domestic abuse, who gamble on sports, and otherwise commit immoral, unethical, and illegal acts should not be in professional sports.

Sports players are held up as heroes to our children.  We use taxpayer money to pay for stadiums.  We use the public airwaves to broadcast sports events.  We should expect that our sports players adhere to a reasonably high moral standard.  If not, then we should strike them from the public airwaves, and remove them from publicly supported stadiums; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
