The US Constitution provides for freedom of religion.  It does not call for freedom of religion.  Everyone who signed the Constitution was religious, nearly all were Christians.

The Separation of Church and State is just as constitutional as the right to an abortion and is mentioned in the Constitution just as many times as abortion is mentioned.  That is, neither are mentioned in the Constitution and neither are constitutional.  If someone wants to pray at a public school there is no Constitutional prohibition against it.  If someone wants to put up a Nativity Display in the public square there is no Constitutional prohibition against it.

The United States was not founded as a Christian nation as such, it was founded on Christian principles by generally Christian men.  The Congress has a chaplain and he has been there from the beginning as have military chaplains.  Liberals like to cloud issues and ignore facts to make their point, but history and facts are stubborn things' that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
