Social Security for Congress

Congress and the President should be paid minimum wage and their retirement program should be Social Security. If we did that, it would be interesting to see how many would decide that "public service" was not really for them anymore.

Our nation has reserve police and volunteer fire departments that server for free or low pay. Maybe Congress should try it.  I suspect that at least half of our Congress would retire rather than stay on and work for minimum wage.

Did you know that no Congress is bound by the actions of a previous Congress?  That means that just because the Congress passed a law that gave themselves a 100% pension for life as soon as they leave office, a future Congress could vote to put them on Social Security.  I think they should do that; that's The view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Ukraine

As Ukraine falls into disarray, the Obama Administration continues to lead from behind.  Since the debacle in Libya where President Obama said the United States was going to lead from behind, our nation has continued to allow our enemies and our competitors to take over more and more of the world.

The Radical Muslims have tried to usurp the overthrow of dictators all over the Middle East and North Africa.  The people have risen up against tyranny in Ukraine and while President Putin of Russia is massing troops near their border the United States is doing essentially nothing.

I suspect the Obama Administration is even now, typing up a strongly worked memo to go into Russia's file in the event that Russia invades Ukraine.  President Obama has eliminated our manned space program so our ability to monitor the situation is limited without Shuttle overflights.  We need an effective president in these dangerous times, instead we have one who simply waits for the international community to do his job; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Papers Please

 http://www.ijreview.com/2014/02/117736-biden-says-voter-id-laws-evidence-hatred-zealotry/

Legislators all over the country are rushing to place more restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms.  They say that 'assault weapons' are too dangerous for people to own.  They say there is no legitimate reason to own them.  Well, I say what legitimate reason is there to own a sports car made in Italy that costs $200,000?  No one needs to drive 200 miles per hour.  Yet those cars are legal.

Vice President Biden says that laws that require someone show an identification are evidence of hatred and zealotry.  Liberals call these efforts racists because they claim that Black Americans often don't have and can't get identification.  Yet, when it comes to buying guns these same liberals say that purchasers have to show identification, even provide fingerprints and go through a background check.

Why is it racist, hatred and zealotry to see that only citizens vote and that they vote only once, but not racist, hatred, and zealotry to see that only citizens buy guns?  Voting is the greatest right the people have and the right to keep and bear arms it the greatest and final protection of that right; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Omnibus Spending Bill

We should not have an omnibus spending bill for our national budget.  The Congress puts together a budget and then you have to vote for raising taxes and cutting defense in the same bill.  That causes Congressmen and Senators to vote for things they don't want to get things they do want.

I think every line item should be voted for separately.  I don't care if they have to take 10,000 separate votes to pass the budget.  If we need to provide money to chicken farmers then take a yea or nay vote on it and be on record that you were in favor of it.

Congress needs to take responsibility for every dime they spend and every bill they pass.  Too often Congressmen hide behind the claim they had to vote for something bad because it was coupled with something good.  That needs to stop.  Congress needs to stop the omnibus spending bill process now; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Employment

http://www.upi.com/Science_News/Technology/2014/02/07/Report-US-science-and-technology-lead-diminishing-as-Asia-competes/UPI-19111391814373/

Rather than the government spending money on midnight basketball we could spend money on midnight calculus classes.  People who are on welfare should be required to either work or go to school.  If they work they should go to classes that will lead to some kind of employment and help them lead better lives.

Classes in home economics, cooking, cleaning, washing, child care, money management, auto shop, all permit people to improve their lives by doing more for themselves.   If people can manage their lives better then the nation is better off.  We have millions of unemployed and under employed people.

Teach them how to work, how to apply for a job, how to manage and develop a business.  With tens of millions of underutilized people we have a huge resource that is just being wasted.  Ethics, education, encouragement needs to be the three things heard by Americas out of work poor; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Get Ready

I am always shocked when I hear or read about people who say the power has been out for three days and we don't have any food.  The water was cut off yesterday and I had to go to the store to buy water and it was all gone!

I shop at Sams Club about once every three weeks.  I buy canned food by the little case.  Eight cans of corn lasts us probably six months, but has a shelf life of years.  When we get down to half a case it's time to buy a new one.  The same with tuna fish, canned chicken, green beans and other staples.  Anything canned can be eaten cold and most canned things are packed in water.

We get bottled water delivered to the house.  We use three or four bottles per month.  I keep 12 bottles on hand, so we always have enough water to drink for a couple months.  None of this is difficult or expensive.  It just takes a little planning and it becomes much easier to function in an emergency, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Get Ready

 http://live.wsj.com/video/mystery-assault-on-power-grid-raises-alarms/9AFCC446-5B2E-4749-A8AC-6E4B0A8A7301.html

Unknown persons cut some phone lines and someone shot up some electrical boxes in California recently.  Cutting a few phone wires will only buy the terrorist a few hours.  Wires are easily spliced, even knock down a few poles and you are talking a day or two to bring them back into service.

Shooting some power station is also a poor method to know out power for very long.  Setting it on fire would probably work better.  People keep calling the attackers "snipers."  That implies a substantial amount of skill, but really anyone who has even moderate skill with a rifle could do this from what I have seen.

Modern society is very inter-related and it does not take much for an interruption of power, water, gas, fuel, food or other necessities of life to happen.  Even a few inches of snow in the South and whole cities were at a standstill and people died.  If everyone would just keep enough food and water, toilet paper and other basic supplies on hand for a couple weeks it would go a long way to make our nation better off and more resilient to attack from anyone or able to withstand a natural disaster, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Sin

We sin in thought, word, and deed.  All of us are sinners.  Some of us sin more than other and some of us sin less.  Still we all sin.  Recently our society has been tossing out the idea of sin.  They are tossing out the idea of a judgement.  That's one of the reasons our society is in so much trouble.

We are told by society that if we condemn sin, we are haters.  Haters gotta hate.  They dismiss thousands of years of Biblical teaching with a bumper sticker response.  It is not hate to call sin a sin.  A man who cheats on his wife is a sinner.  A man who has sex with another man is a sinner.  A woman who has an abortion is a sinner.

Adultery, homosexuality and abortion are all sins.  They are sins against the Almighty God.  They have always been sins and no amount of "enlightenment" will change that.  What is new is that people are trying tell us we don't have the right to judge is an evil thing is a sin.  They tell us we hate the person who we speak of as a sinner.  I say we love the person we call as sinner because we care enough about them to try and correct them.  We have to do it with love and charity, knowing that we too are sinners.  We cannot justify our adultery while we condemn another persons homosexuality or abortion.  We cannot call evil good and we cannot justify sin, but we can reach out in love to other sinners and ask them to join us in repentance and reconciliation, through Jesus Christ our Lord; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Cost of Business

When liberals say they want to raise the minimum wage to $10 per hour, I ask them why not $50 per hour and then we can all be rich.  They don't seem to have an answer except even they realize there is a limit to how much of other peoples money you can spend.

When the government raises the minimum wage people lose their jobs.  Some employers can barely afford to hire an employee at all and if the cost of that employee goes up due to requirements to provide health insurance or an increase in the minimum wage then some of those employees will be let go or cut back to part time.

What good is it to raise the minimum wage to a higher amount if people are going to lose their jobs?  It also makes it more attractive for companies to move those jobs out of state or out of the country.  The real reason Democrats want to increase minimum wage is because many union contracts are tied to the minimum wage.  They get two or three times the minimum wage so if the minimum goes up, those unionized workers get a raise and of course the unions support the Democrats.  All this talk about supporting poor people is just a smoke screen; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

National Guard

The United States needs to save money.  One way to do that is to increase the size of the National Guard and Air National Guard.  Rather than simply cut defense spending, we should keep the units intact and the vehicles and equipment, but move them into the National Guard.

That way some of the expense can be borne by the various states, rather than just by the Federal Government.  We can continue to provide incomes to soldiers who are in the National Guard, but they cost far less then full time troops.  We should also include Navy units as well, so that we can keep ships in service, rather than scrap them or mothball them.

National Guard troops can be deployed for many humanitarian missions within their home state in times of crisis.  They can be deployed if he have a war that requires large numbers of soldiers.  It's a way to keep our nation strong without having to maintain a giant standing army, which is expensive and some say, a threat to liberty; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Ivory

http://www.pawnation.com/2014/02/18/prince-william-wants-buckingham-palace-ivory-destroyed/?ncid=webmail1

William, Prince of England wants all the ivory in Buckingham Palace destroyed.  How typical of feel good liberal policies that do nothing to solve the problem but do bring about unwarrented pain and destruction to others.

These pieces already exist, destroying them will not bring elephants back.  No one is killing elephants because there are ivory objects in Buckingham Palace.  These objects are art and history, it would be a criminal act to destroy them.  I like elephants too, but destroying this ivory will not save them.  Hiring game wardens, prosecuting smugglers and those who employ them and preserving their habitat will save elephants, not destroying historical artifacts; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Oligarchy

If your father was president then you should not run for president.  If your husband or wife was a senator then you should not run for senator.  If your brother was governor, then you should not run for governor.

State governors, president and Congress should not be filled by the same family.  We have 300 million people in the United States. Are Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton the two best people to become president?  I don't think so.  Their families have already ruled the nation and so let someone else have a chance.

I think it was unseemly for Hillary Clinton to use her position and name recognition as First Lady to run for Senate in the first place.  Their family already held the presidency, isn't that enough for any family?  Certainly we have others who could have filled that spot just as well, probably better.  We are becoming an oligarchy with only a few people running our nation and that's not good for democracy; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Congress, Do Your Job

The Congress is ignoring much of their job.  They have permitted Federal Agencies like the IRS and the EPA to pass regulations and run the country.  No regulation that costs any significant amount of money to enforce should be in the hands of an alphabet agency.

If the EPA wants to protect a fish by pulling down a dam, then that should be sent to Congress for their approval.  If the IRS wants to fine someone or set up guidelines for a non-profit organization, then the Congress should have to approve it.

In fact, I will go so far as to say that every regulation put forth by every Federal Agency should have to be approved by Congress, even if it does not cost a dime.  I am not sending my representative to Congress to let unelected bureaucrats to do their job.  Part of their job is the oversight of Federal agencies and Congress has been asleep at the switch for too long; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

No Social Security Fund

There is no such thing as entitlement spending.  No one is entitled to my money.  Social Security is a ponzi scheme that has benefited the Congress for the last 50 years by taking in more money than it spends.  Then Congress borrows that money and spends it on other programs.

They have no intention or method to pay that money back.  It's gone.  The program simply pays money into a fund that has been raided by Congress to pay other operating expenses of government.  We the people have let them do this and so we share some of the blame.

The Democrats and the Republicans can share the blame for this wanton spending.  The Social Security programs needs to be revamped so that the Congress can't take the money.  People need to have a secure retirement.  The money should be invested just like in a private retirement fund and not simply stolen by Congress; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Hard Choices

Republicans need to stay strong and try to appeal to Libertarians, American Taxpayer Party voters and work on get out the vote campaigns to get those who have not been voting to vote for them.  We can do that by taking a chance and actually doing the things they stand for and pledging to do them more often.

Republicans need to make bold assertions and their voting record has to back up those claims.  They need to say we will build the border fence.  They need to say we will cut taxes.  They need to talk about a balanced budget.  They need to talk about paying off our national debt.

Republicans need to do those things if they get elected.  They need to vote that way, even if it blocks progress on other issues.  Republicans need to play hard ball against their liberal opponents because the future of this nation is at stake; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

RINO

Only 60% of eligible voters voted in the 2012 election.  That's 90 million people who could have voted who instead sat at home and watched television, or rode their jet ski, or knit a sweater.  That's enough people that they could have elected almost anyone to almost any office.

The Republican seem to look at elections as binary.  People will vote for a conservative Republican or a liberal Democrat.  They seem to think the only way to get more people to vote Republican is to become more liberal.  They believe if they are more liberal than not only will all the Republicans will vote for them but that some Democrats will vote Republican and that will be enough to form a majority.

Here's the problem.  When conservative Republicans act like liberals they don't pick up significant numbers of Democrats.  What happens is they lose significant numbers of Republicans who either vote Libertarian, or some other right wing party or stay home.  Pretending to be more liberal is a losing strategy for Republicans; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Minimum Wage

Politicians should be paid minimum wage.  If going to Washington is a public service, then they should be happy to serve.  All of those in the Senate and House are rich.  There are no poor or middle class people there.

Yet the majority of the people are middle class and poor.  I have nothing against the rich.  I would not mind being rich.  I do disagree that being a member of Congress should be the way to become rich or richer.

Too many in Washington stay there forever because they are raking in the money both in salary and benefits.  They have huge retirements waiting for them too.  I think they should be paid minimum wage and be on Social Security, without any other public income and without any other retirement, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Politicians

Being an elected official is supposed to be a public service. Public servants are supposed to go to city hall, the state capital or Washington for a short time, do their service and come home.  I think some of the problems in our nation are caused by politicians who make a career of being politicians.

They want to "serve" the people by being the boss of the people.  They are so arrogant that they don't believe they could be replaced.  They think that they deserve to make a fortune and to serve in office forever.  Both of California's Senators have been in office for over twenty years.

Neither have been in the armed forces nor have they run a business.  Like so many politicians, of both parties, they are totally out of touch with the people they claim to represent.  They started in politics early in life and simply went from one office to another.  I think we as a society can do better than that; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Communist China

http://sinosphere.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/02/03/china-to-ramp-up-military-spending/?_php=true&_type=blogs&ref=world&_r=0

Communist China is increasing military spending.  Communist China is not at war.  They are not facing any significant threats from outside their nation.  Their present level of spending is much higher than it was only a few years ago.

Communist China is surrounded by many large and powerful nations.  India, Russia and Japan all border China but the present level of spending by China is more than enough to provide for their defense.  None of these countries threaten the existence of China, nor do they threaten China with attack, unless China attacks them first.

There is the key, Communist China has threatened their neighbors.  They have border disputes with all their neighbors. China claims lands, islands and regions that have never been Chinese or at least have not been Chinese in modern times, often in centuries.  This is the key, Communist China plans to continue to threaten their neighbors and is working to achieve the ability to back up those threats; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Jobs

The United States should pursue a policy to bring good jobs back to America.  We need to cut regulations that serve only to drive businesses out of the USA.  Not everything that is a good idea needs to be a law.  We need to look at the lawsuits filed in the US and determine which ones are the result of laws that drive companies out of the country.  Then we need to change those laws so jobs can return to the US.

What good is it to win a lawsuit against your employer if the company is put out of business and all the other employees are then unemployed?  Even if an employer does something bad there should be better, faster, cheaper ways to resolve these problems than going to court for years and spending millions of dollars.

We also need to stop buying so much from Communist China.  Even if those jobs can't come back to the United States, then we should move those companies to India or the Philippines.  Those nations speak English and like Americans.  Those nations are not threatening our allies and even us with military action.  The Communist Chinese use the money we give them to make weapons to work against our interests; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Treaties with Friends

Communist China has been rattling swords and making threats against nearly all the nations they border.  Would China risk a war with Japan to attack India?  Probably not.

The United States should be taking the lead in forming closer military and economic ties with the democratic nations of the Eastern Pacific Rim.  We don't need free trade with them but fair trade.  Both sides should lower trade barriers so we can sell them fruit and wheat, and beef and cars and they can sell us textiles and consumer electronics.

Communist China threatens all of the nations in the Eastern Pacific Rim, but they do it, one at a time and warn the others to stay out of their disputes.  China could fight some of those nations, but not all of those nations.  We should wean ourselves from cheap Communist Chinese goods and cut off their money supply.  Money they use to build weapons and threaten us and our allies, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Class Envy

The unions have been passing out charts showing how much more CEOs make than workers.  They also select certain nations to show their CEOs don't make as much as American CEOs.  The idea is that the government should regulate how much money CEOs are paid.  They want to stir up class envy, even class hatred against the rich.

How much the CEO makes does not mean anything, except to those to push class envy. What matters is paying the workers a decent wage and paying a reasonable return on investment. The CEO of MacDonalds has tens of thousands of low wage employees who do work that does not merit a high wage, but he runs a business that does billions of dollars worth of revenue each year. That does justify a large income.

The real problem is we have removed Christian charity and replaced it with the bottom line return. Companies like Hobby Lobby and Chic-fil-a that are run on Christian principles pay more and give better benefits than similar secular companies.  Stock holders should complain if CEOs make "too much" and should better manage their managers.  We don't need the government to get involved; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Pacific Rim Alliance

South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Philippines, India, and the United States should form an alliance to defend one another from attack.  The alliance should not include any Muslim nations nor any Communist countries.

These nations and perhaps a few others, can stand as democratic barriers to invasion by either radicalized Islamic nations or expansionist Communist regimes.  If a nation like Vietnam wants to join, then they will have to grant religious and political freedom to their people.

Several nations in the eastern Pacific Rim have threatened their neighbors.  We need to stand together against that aggression.  The free nations are stronger than those that deny religious and political freedom to their own people.  President Obama has had a series of diplomatic failures, perhaps he could try for a win and reverse the trend; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Prayer

I think President Obama has done a very poor job as president.  I did not vote for him either time, I am sorry he won those two elections.  Still, he is our president and as he fails, often it is our nation and our citizens who pay the price.  Please join me in praying for him, this prayer from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.

"A Prayer for The President of the United States, and all in Civil Authority.

O LORD, our heavenly Father, the high and mighty Ruler of the universe, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth; Most heartily we beseech thee, with thy favour to behold and bless thy servant THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and all others in authority; and so replenish them with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that they may always incline to thy will, and walk in thy way. Endue them plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant them in health and prosperity long to live; and finally, after this life, to attain everlasting joy and felicity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

If President Obama were to incline to the will of God, I suspect many of out troubles would be gone; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Learning to be Deviants

http://www.gopusa.com/freshink/2013/12/18/colorado-univ-suspends-deviance-professor/?subscriber=1

A sociology professor was teaching a course at the University of Colorado called "Deviance in U.S. Society."  Due to concerns about possible sexual harassment the professor has been suspended from teaching the class.  So there were no actual complaints, but the administration had to remove the professor from the class because there might be a complaint.

Sexual harassment has become a monster that destroys careers, lives and programs where nothing wrong has happened or no harm has been done.  This class is a victim of that type of witch hunt that goes on in business and academia all the time now because we are too concerned about hurting someones feelings.

The other problem with this news story is that there is no reason for the University of Colorado to be teaching a sociology class about deviance.  If such a class needs to be taught it should be in the psychology department to teach students how to recognize and treat deviance.  It should be in the criminal justice department to teach students how to recognize, arrest and prosecute deviant illegal behavior.  This class is just another example of the degenerate activity on today's college campus; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Create Jobs

Americans all over the nation are starting to realize that the big government solutions proposed by President Obama are not working.  People who have been out of work for years, don't need three more months of unemployment benefits, they need jobs.

President Obama and the Democrats continue to propose solutions that don't work.  They don't work in Chicago, they don't work in New York, they don't work in Detroit.  Yet, they come up with the same idea as if it will suddenly work when it never has before.

The solution to our economic woes is good, high paying, private sector jobs.  Those jobs are made possible by large corporations and rich people investing money and employing people to make goods and services that people will buy.  For the last 20 years or more government has stood in the way of free enterprise with lawsuits that run companies out of business, ship jobs overseas and prevent expansion.  We need to reverse that trend; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Gay or Jail

http://godfatherpolitics.com/13625/people-fight-back-judge-rules-cake-chef-jack-phillips/#RKVZAcgUVfvROM4U.99

In Colorado the constitution says marriage is between a man and a woman.  Yet, when two homosexuals went to a bakery and asked for a "wedding" cake the baker said no and was sued.  The baker said he is a Christian who thinks homosexual behavior is immoral.  A liberal judge ruled against him and says he must make the cake or risk going to jail.

This is a new low point in our nation.  Back in the early 1970's homosexual activists said they just wanted laws repealed that made homosexual activity illegal.  They just wanted to be left alone to live their lives quietly without harassment.

Now, 40 years later, the homosexual activists are participating in sex acts in public without concern.  They use the corrupted power of the judiciary to make new laws and try and put people in jail who don't agree with their extreme agenda.  The United States failing as a nation and this is just one more bit of evidence of that; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Rich & Poor

http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-oxfam-world-economic-forum-income-inequality-20140120,0,7080817.story#axzz2qxEXoTZW

The top 85 richest people have as much money as the bottom half of the worlds population according to Oxfam.  They seem to think this is a terrible problem.  Their solution is to steal their money and give it to the poor people.  They think they are Robin Hood, apparently.  They of course mask their theft as raising taxes to confiscatory levels, rather than individual theft.  Like most big government liberals, their solutions always involve more government power, and higher taxes.

If we took all the money from those top 85 people and distributed it to those poor people their income would double for one year.  Then in year two, their income would fall back to what it had been before their windfall, nothing will have changed.  The biggest problem is one of the heart.  The rich get richer but they have no Christian charity.  They don't give back to God a portion of the riches He has given them.  They don't take responsibility for the people who work for them.  They exercise management, not leadership.

What we really need to do is not bring down the rich to the level of the poor.  We need to bring the poor up from their low estate.  Fewer unnecessary regulations so that business can boom.  Better infrastructure and lower cost electricity, clean nuclear energy would help.  These things bring jobs and prosperity; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
