Death Penalty

A Black judge in North Carolina commuted the death sentence for three Black inmates who had been sentenced to death for murder.  He says that because the prosecutors tried to get more White people on the jury that created racial bias against the Black defendants.  Why is any of this about race?

If the convicted murdered did the crime then they should be given the death penalty.  If they are not guilty then they should not be in jail.  The race of the people on the jury should not be an issue.  If the jury was legally empanelled then their verdict should stand and so should the penalty imposed.

Too many people are tying to make the death penalty about race.  It's not, it's about justice.  If a criminal murders people they should be executed.  That's very simple.  The death penalty is not about how much it costs, or how long it takes or who is executed.  It's about bring closure to the victims; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
