Not Funny

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2012/11/20/facebook-photo-of-plymouth-woman-at-tomb-of-the-unknowns-sparks-outrage/

At the Tomb of the Unknowns there is a policy and signs that require people to be quiet and respectful.  A woman had her friend take her photo while she was acting as if she was shouting and flipping someone off.  While she said later that she was silent, she certainly was not respectful.

Later that photo went public and many people were outraged.  After the complaining got to her employer she was fired from her job.  She claimed she was only doing the photo as a joke and did not really intend any disrespect.  She wanted her job back.

I have been to the Tomb of the Unknowns.  It is a grave.  It is a somber place that should always be respected.  Silence, decorum, dignity are the behaviors that are best at this shrine to America's war dead.  Clowning around and taking funny pictures is inappropriate behavior for teenagers.  It is inexcusable for adults.  If one of my employees did that I would certainly consider firing them too; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
