Football Player

A football player signed a $1.9 million dollar contract and drives around in a Bentley, one of the most expensive automobiles in the world.  The player than argued with his girlfriend over money, murdered her and killed himself.  His girlfriend had just had their baby.

They had a tempestuous relationship for the last three years according to news reports.  He went out with another woman the night before.  He had several contacts with police six years ago when he was in college.  They were living in a rented apartment at the time of the murder / suicide.  He has an income of over a million dollars and drives a Bentley, but can't afford to either buy a home or marry his girlfriend?  It was not the gun that was responsible for this incident, it was the immoral and unethical murderer who is to blame for this crime.

If he loved this woman he should not have had sex with her until they were lawfully married.  They should not have had a child out of wedlock.  If he had to argue over money he should not have been driving a Bentley.  This is typical of major league sports stars who get into trouble.  They have a life history of irresponsible; often criminal behavior and it ends up with the player dead or in jail.  Sports players need to have much greater moral guidance in their lives.  The leagues need to take greater responsibility in selecting players who will be better role models to the fans rather than petty criminals, and people who live in sin, and waste their money on conspicuous consumption; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
