When I was a kid cars were very large, and heavy.  They were very comfortable and could go very fast.  They would easily set six large, tall adults, and had a massive trunk space.  Then people complained about the air quality and later fuel economy.  As a result cars got smaller and smaller.

Now we see these new Fiats and Smart Cars that look like they would fit inside the bed of a pick up truck.  Tiny cars that don't give me any feeling of either comfort or safety.  For too long we have worried about mileage and emissions to the detriment of safety and comfort.  I want a 1964 Chevrolet Impala station wagon that gets fifty miles to the gallon.

We need vehicles that can provide us with luxury, comfort, safety, clean air and fuel economy are all important.  For at least the last thirty years the American standard of living has been slowly sliding downhill.  Having a large comfortable car is only one of many examples.  We need leadership in both government and private industry that can bring America forward and stop this slow decline; that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
