Prayer

Sometimes at church I get to lead Morning Prayer services.  As part of that service I get to select from a number of optional prayers or I can simply use the standard prayers alone.  I remember back in the George Bush Administration, President Bush used to commend Americans for praying for him and thanking them for the strength it gave him to execute the duties of his office.

In my opinion, President Obama has done a terrible job as president.  I am saddened by his continued support for abortion.  The safest place in the world should be in your mother’s womb, but that is not the case for far too many babies in the Obama Administration.  I am appalled at his support for the homosexual lobby and his making up rights that never existed in the history of this nation or even in most of the world in all of history.  Homosexual marriage is an oxymoron and having open homosexuals serve in the military has been a continuing disaster.

“O LORD, our heavenly Father, the high and mighty Ruler of the universe, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth; Most heartily we beseech thee, with thy favour to behold and bless thy servant THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and all others in authority; and so replenish them with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that they may always incline to thy will, and walk in thy way.  Endue them plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant them in health and prosperity long to live; and finally, after this life, to attain everlasting joy and felicity; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.  1928 B.C.P.

President Obama claims to be a Christian and so as Christians it is our duty to give him the benefit of the doubt and pray for him.  Our nation is at war against Radical Islam.  Radical Islam is the enemy, the Democrats are political opponents, but they are not the enemy.  For a civil society to exist we must remember the difference; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

When does such prayer become patronizing?

It is patronizing if it is not sincere. I don't like President Obama, but if he fails as president, then the entire nation will suffer. I pray that he will see the light and do the right thing with regard to abortion and homosexual issues. I pray he will improve the economy and keep the nation safe from our enemies. Jesus told us to pray for our enemies and while the Democrats are not the enemy they certainly are political opponents of the Hysterical Right Wing.
