Old Time Religion, New Time Technology

Churches Adopt Technology To Reach Out To Congregants

When Jesus walked the Earth he spoke to us and his disciples eventually wrote down what he told them. Eventually, someone used a new technology to print His words. Eventually the Word was preached, first on radio, then on television. Then the printing press with moveable type was utilized to print those immortal words. Now the Word of God is on the Internet and on computers. It just seems like a good idea to move forward spreading the Gospel with new technologies as they become available.

As we have moved into the electronic age, the church as done a poor job of reaching the world with the message of Jesus. There should be a constant barrage of radio, television and movies sponsored by Christians that reach out not only to their flocks, but to the world as well. These messages could be commercially sponsored, and make money and become self supporting, just like secular radio, TV and movies. Religious movies have always done well at the box office from the silent Ben Hur toThe Passion of the Christ.

Since Hollywood won’t make these shows anymore, Christians should be forming companies to make these kinds of movies. We already have the greatest collection of stories in the Bible. We simply need to make mass market shows that will bring that message to the people. Christians need to embrace technology, just as we always have done; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Photoshop

http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/farid/downloads/publications/pnas11/

Companies are making use of software to alter images of people so they look healthier, younger, thinner and more perfect. If these images are used to show people buying car insurance, floor wax, or dog food, I don’t think I care much about the practice. If they are selling gym memberships, diets, makeup, or any other health or grooming aid, then I am concerned.

There should be industry standards that say what is acceptable in advertising. Any change in the appearance of someone by software modification in advertising that deals with health, grooming or beauty should generally be prohibited. Using a computer to modify someone so their teeth are whiter in an advertisement for toothpaste would clearly seem unethical to me. Doing the same thing to a person who is advertising dog food does not seem to be an issue, since white human teeth is generally not considered a benefit of the dog food one chooses.

A small seal of approval flashed on the screen, or posted in the corner of the advertisement could indicate the advertisement has passed the review of the ethics board. Not unlike the people who do movie ratings. At this time I don’t think we need government action to censor commercials or print ads, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Say it in English

Pledge Of Allegiance In Spanish At California Schools Sparks Heated Debate (VIDEO) (POLL)

In California the official language is English. Unelected liberal judges refuse to allow us to implement that law and instead force us to print ballots in Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish. Now liberal school officials not satisfied with that have been teaching children to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish.

The school officials tell us about how inclusive they are being by allowing the students who don’t speak English to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish. They are not being inclusive; they are being lazy and divisive. The language of the United States and the official language of California is English. It is divisive to teach children to say the Pledge of Allegiance in languages other than English. Children should say the Pledge every day in English. If they are taking a Spanish course, or a German course then it would be okay for them to say the pledge in that other language, in addition to having said it in English as a way for them to learn the other language.

Since teachers have to teach the Pledge to students, then why not go the extra bit and teach it in English? The goal should be to teach all children in California schools to read write and speak well in English. This would seem a logical first step towards that goal. Teachers are being lazy by not teaching these kids to say the pledge in English. A common language is essential for us to be a common people; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

No Joy in Glee

fccinfo@fcc.gov

The television show Glee is pushing the homosexual agenda to children. They are using this show to tell young people that anything is fine as long as it fells good. They are showing characters on the show having homosexual relations.

Since homosexual acts are abnormal and unnatural, homosexual activists must recruit new children into their lifestyle constantly. Having main stream television networks work to recruit young people into the homosexual lifestyle in unacceptable to me. Television can uplift, and educate. Television can be a great way to teach people about our history and the lives of great Americans.

Rather than do any of that, the producers of Glee have elected to recruit children into a destructive an immoral lifestyle. Children who are homosexual have higher rates of suicide and sexually transmitted diseases than other children. They are less happy and more likely to live lives of pain. There is no valid reason to depict the homosexual lifestyle in entertainment intended for children, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Planning and Growth

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204630904577056490023451980.html?mod=djemEditorialPage_h

The free market system is the best system in the world to overcome obstacles and provide the most benefits for the largest number of people. What is needed to make is work better is to allow companies the ability to make long range plans with certainty. Too often in the last decade the US has made significant changes in tax policy but put sunset clauses in them. We will cut your taxes but only for a few years. This type of policy makes it very hard to plan beyond those few years. We need permanent tax cuts so business can plan their expansion.

We need to cut regulation and make Congress and all the government subject to the same regulations as the rest of us. Congress is not subject to sexual harassment and racial discrimination laws, but private companies spend millions trying to comply with confusing and even impossible standards imposed by a Congress that exempts themselves from these laws.

We need to play hardball with our trading partners. Free markets cannot compete against controlled markets. A company that does not get a government subsidy has great difficulty competing against a government owned company that does not need to make a profit, is subsidized by the government to cover operating expenses. Nations that manipulate their currencies and steal other nation’s technology should not be allowed to make us look like fools. The United States is allowing Communist China under the guise of free trade take down our system, and is using this advantage to destroy our nation; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

California Inmate Dies on Death Row

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-inmate-death-20111124,0,2463861.story

An inmate on death row has died in a California prison. He murdered three college students over 30 years ago. He died of disease, he was not executed. He was on death row longer than his victims lived. A state that thinks the abortion of an innocent child is just fine but can’t bring itself to execute a convicted mass murderer of three young people is a cruel and foolish place.

A man who commits first degree murder of three young people should be arrested, tried, his sentence reviewed by a higher court, and by the governor and then executed in less than a year. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for this man to have lived his live on death row for decades.

California has a death penalty in place and we need it. This state has hundreds of evil men who prey on the innocent, steal, rape and murder. People who live a criminal lifestyle and contribute nothing to society other than to murder the innocent deserve to die at the hands of the state; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Take it Back

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-high-speed-money-20111123,0,3164155.story

The California state government has been building a high speed railways system all over the state for over ten years. So far they have laid, no rail whatsoever after spending tens of millions of dollars and over a decade of work, they have accomplished absolutely nothing at all. The project is a complete and total waste of money.

To make matters worse, the Federal Government is broke and the State Government is broke also; neither of them can afford to waste any taxpayer dollars. To further compound the waste the high speed railway was supposed to be financed by private dollars but no one wants to invest in the project. There are several high speed routes that might be profitable and could help to cut roadway traffic.

High speed railway between San Diego and Los Angeles would be a good idea. High speed railway between Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Nevada could be high profitable. Rather they intend to start building a route from Fresno to Bakersfield. So a train that goes between Fresno with half a million people to Bakersfield a city of about 400,000 people. Two medium cities out in the middle of no where will be served by a high speed rail connection. Another bad idea by the state government, I hope the money is taken back by the Federal Government, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Lies are Truth

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/25/hollywood-sending-fascist_n_1113066.html

Hollywood is sending a pro-military and pro-big business message that is wrapped in fascism according to a recent article. The author was taking a look at action heroes like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Clint Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone as his examples. In the last two years I think these four combined have made one movie. Hardly representative of Hollywood I think.

The military as evil and big business as the bad guy appears so often in movies made since the middle of the 1960’s that is a terrible cliché. I would be hard pressed to name a single war movie made after the 9/11 attacks that showed American soldiers as heroic, disciplined professionals that were fighting evil.

Hollywood is so afraid of showing the US military as good that they have to show them in operation against insects and other science fiction enemies before they can show the US military as competent. Hollywood constantly takes on the evil big corporations that despoil the land and trample the little guy, forgetting that Hollywood itself is made up of major corporations and pays movie stars obscene amounts of money. Movies like those in the article were made by Hollywood, but you have to go back to John Wayne to find one; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing, pilgrim.

AIDS Money Wasted

http://www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=1488472

President Obama has pledged millions of US dollars to treat people with AIDS in other nations. It is nice to be so generous, with other people’s money. At a time when money is tight, why are we sending it overseas to treat other people who have diseases. People in the United States with HIV and no health insurance are being taxed by President Obama to treat AIDS in other countries. That hardly seems fair.

Why is AIDS treated differently than other diseases? If you had TB or the bubonic plague would you be allowed to attend school, go to work and be out with other people without restriction? If you had a high contagious disease without cure that is always fatal should you be permitted to participate in behavior that spreads that disease?

People with AIDS should be quarantined like we used to do with other diseases. We conquered many diseases in the past by using a variety of strategies. Just as we drained swamps to destroy mosquitoes that carried diseases we should close the bath houses where homosexual men go to have casual sex with random partners. We should do pre-marital testing for AIDS and prevent people from getting married if one has AIDS. We should spend more money on developing a cure and a vaccine rather than sending money overseas. AIDS should lose its special political activist identity and we should treat the disease and those with it like we have always treated people with dangerous, even deadly diseases; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

End Times

Recently there have been several dooms day cults and “Christian” preachers speaking about the end of the world. The world will end some day when Jesus Christ returns to Earth and brings his kingdom. We don’t know when that day will be, and we are told not to look for that day.

St Matthew says, 25:13, “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” It is always strange to me when people who claim to believe the Bible, then proclaim things that the Bible says are not true. There are those who despite this clear indication that we don’t know when Christ is coming, insist that they know better.

There is no need to know the day or the time when Christ will return. The point of scripture is that he could come at any time so we need to be ready all the time. If we knew Christ would not return for 500 years would we change our behavior? I hope not because even if Christ does not come to Earth for 500 more years, certainly we are all going to have our chance to go to heaven long before then; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

In Defensible

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ian-fletcher/curtains-for-the-us-milit_b_1109101.html

The North won the American Civil war because of the ability of the North to product large quantities of military arms and equipment to arm their large population and fight the more rural and non-industrial Southern States. The United States in the First World War supplied guns, artillery, uniforms and equipment of all kinds to the French and the British and that tipped the balance and allowed the Allies to win the First World War.

Premier Nikita Khrushchev of the Soviet Union said that American Spam saved the Soviet Union from defeat in the Second World War. Imperial Japanese Admiral Yamamoto feared waking the American sleeping giant from its slumbers and filling it with a terrible resolve would cause America to go to full war production and defeat Japan with new weapons. During the War on Islamist Terrorists the United States adopted new vehicles that were mine and IED resistant. That involved replacing thousands of expensive trucks with even more expensive armored trucks. Our massive industrial capacity was able to do that without any disruption in the civilian economy.

Under President Obama our nation has stopped all production of tanks and closed the one factory where tanks are built, we have stopped all manned space flight from the United States. We have delayed production of bombers, fighters and ships. We have been at war but actually cut defense spending. Computers, steel, shipbuilding, and other technologies and capacities essential to national defense continue to be shipped overseas to Communist China. As result our trade deficit soars, our unemployment grows, our ability to defend ourselves decreases. We need fair trade that recognizes the need to keep defense industries strong and that we keep an industrial base with capacity to build armaments in event of war. We can’t count on Communist China to come to our aid in a major conflict; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Gun Control

Gun Ad Likens Obama To Hitler, Other Dictators

Gun control is about controlling people, not controlling guns. Governments in the 20th Century killed more of their own people than were killed in all the murders and all the wars combined. The greatest defense the individual has against a repressive government is the privately owned military style firearm. Nations that want to oppress their people generally don’t just move in and kill people. First they require people to register their firearms. They give many reasons for firearms registration; crime controls, safety of children, taxation, keep guns out of the hands of radicals, rebels and criminals, and the insane.

Tell people they can keep their guns as long as they register them. Make sever penalties for failing to register a gun and sever penalties for failing to report a registered gun as stolen or sold. Once the people have registered their guns, then it is a simple matter to send them a notice telling them to turn their registered gun in to the government. They can’t deny it, since it was registered to them. Anyone who fails to turn in their gun is subject to arrest. Once the government is certain they have all the guns that will be turned in then they go arrest everyone who registered a gun and failed to turn it in. Once all of them are arrested there are barriers to any oppression the government wants to do to the people.

President Obama has instituted gun registration in several southern border states, without the permission of the Congress. How long before he makes it nationwide? How long before the confiscations begin? Avoiding new gun control is another reason to vote Republican in the next presidential election; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Fair Trade

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=371329

I buy stuff from all over the world. I like to buy American products for most things but I am okay with buying products from other countries. My preference is to buy products that are American, or from countries that are friendly to America, like most of Western Europe, particularly the UK.

Often I buy products made in Communist China. I would rather buy products from other countries than Communist China but there is not always a choice. When there is a choice, I will try to avoid Communist Chinese products. Trade with other nations is fine, but it should not be all one way and it should be with nations that permit freedom for their own people. I don’t like sending money to regimes that use the money to oppress their own people, including Communist China and many oil producing nations.

We need a policy to export more to Communist China. The Chinese should be encouraged to grant religious and political freedom to their people. We should use tariffs, diplomatic pressure, and the WTO to reduce the trade deficit with China. Americans need jobs and we should stop exporting those jobs to Red China; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

No Goddess

http://www.newswithviews.com/BeritKjos/kjos122.htm

Our nation continues to be bombarded by occult forces. The Harry Potter series of books and movies continues to be popular in the US. These books and movies, like so many others, continue to desensitize people to the dangers of occult forces, magic and witchcraft. Many fall victim to the foolish notion that there are both good witches and bad witches. There are only witches, and practicing witchcraft is inherently evil.

Galatians 5:19-21, King James Version (KJV) says “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

That says those who practice witchcraft shall not inherit the kingdom of God. That is not some Old Testament admonition. It is not vague or subject to interpretation. Those who live the Harry Potter lifestyle are going to hell. Our children should never read books or watch movies that have the primary heroic character as someone who is condemned to hell; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Evil Begats Evil

http://www.worldviewweekend.com/worldview-times/article.php?articleid=7740

The football program at Penn State University is under investigation due to a child sex abuse scandal. Charges are flowing in every direction that children were abused, abuse was covered up, and money was paid for child sexual favors. All this was done using the disguise of the football program.

Their college football program should be eliminated for at least five years, until all those presently involved with the program have graduated or moved on to other jobs outside the university. The college should also look at other departments in the school. Anyone associated with this scandal should be removed from their jobs. Anyone who advocates child sex as normal, acceptable, permissible should also be removed from the school. They need to re-run the background checks on every school employee and volunteer from the President of the University to the janitor.

Those in the anthropology department, psychology department, sociology department or any other department in the University who advocate child sexuality should be fired. This type of widespread abuse often has people who may not actually participate in it, but who provide moral support by claiming there is nothing wrong with it. They provide a type of justification for this type of criminal and deviant behavior by giving it a scientific justification. There is no justification for the abuse of children; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Don’t Apologize

Emma Sullivan Apology: Kansas High School Student Not Sorry About Sam Brownback Tweet

A young woman who attends high school attended an assembly and the state Governor addressed the students. The woman wrote a Tweet that was insulting to the Governor and was also a lie. The Tweet became public and the school demanded that the young woman apologize in writing. The mother of the young woman said she stood by her daughter’s refusal to apologize for her remarks, saying she raised her daughter to be a “free thinker.”

That’s part of the young woman’s problem. The mother did not raise her to respect her elders. She did not raise her daughter to respect those in authority. She was not raised to be polite and truthful in her dealings with other people. She was raised to be an atheist and to reject the teachings of Christ.

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Don’t write insulting remarks about the Governor. Thos shalt not bear false witness. Don’t lie about your actions. Honor thy father and mother, respect your elders. Love the Lord thy God. Don’t make yourself out to be god; you don’t know everything just because you are an 18 year old high school student, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Pro-Life

Herman Cain Signs Susan B. Anthony List's 'Pro-life Presidential Leadership Pledge'

Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum have all signed a pro-life presidential pledge. They say they will support life in the laws they propose, judges and others that they appoint and other official acts as president. This is a very important pledge and I am glad that these candidates have made themselves clear on this important issue.

Too many pro-life candidates try and claim to be pro-life but then when they are in office they act as if they are pro-abortion. They claim they don’t want to force their views on others and that other people should be able to make their own choices. If you are pro-life then you need to act pro-life. The pro-abortion activists act in favor of death when they are in power.

The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are the foundations of this nation. We never should have made abortion legal. The courts overstepped their authority when they legalized abortion. Major changes in civil rights law or indeed any law should not come from the courts. The courts should only interpret how a specific instance applies in a particular law, rather than rewrite whole laws. It is good that so many of the Republicans have signed this pledge to remain pro-life; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Make Fighters

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/13/us-fighter-usa-lockheed-idUSTRE7BC09T20111213

=

The US Air Force is taking delivery of the last new F-22 fighters. We don’t have a replacement fighter in production yet. We are working on a host of other fighters but they may be years away from deployment and certainly won’t be available in large numbers for a very long time.

This is one problem we have brought on ourselves, with both fighter planes and tanks and the space shuttle. We stop production of the existing product without a replacement product in sight. If we had a major war tomorrow we would have no one who could start building space shuttles, tanks or fighter planes ready to go to work on them right away. We would have to reopen plants, build machinery and train employees to do the work and it could be months, if not years before the first ones were ready to deploy.

We don’t have that kind of time, war goes very fast and it needs replacement vehicles right away. We should not close these plants down; we should instead keep a small cadre of the best workers who can continue to build one a week for tanks, and one a month for planes and one every few years for space shuttles. That way we can keep up with operational loses as they get destroyed in accidents or wear out in training. We also would be ready to fire up full production overnight because the plants would be operating and experienced crews would know all the secrets to building tanks, fighters and space shuttles. Short term thinking like this gets us into trouble; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

What Did Jesus Tell Us?

Omaha Tri-Faith Initiative Has Unique Approach To Interfaith Relations

“Rt. Rev. J. Scott Barker, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska, said at a press conference for "an opportunity not only to learn to tolerate people of different backgrounds and beliefs and aspirations, but to find ways to even celebrate all we have in common, to learn and grow precisely as women and men and children who experience God in different ways and call God by different names."

Jews, Muslims and Episcopalians are building an interfaith campus in Nebraska to bring all three religions together in one place. This is not what Jesus called Christians to do. This is precisely why Christianity is dying in much of Europe and North America. Christians have forgotten their own values and have failed to do what Christ told us to do.

He gave us the great commission. In Gospel According to St. Matthew, chapter 28, verses 18-20 we read:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus commands us to go forward and covert everyone to Christians. He does not say to find ways to celebrate our differences. He says make disciples of them. It is very clear what God intends for us to do, and it’s not celebrate that we experience God in different ways; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Chinese Internet Spies

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204336104577094690893528130.html

Today spies don’t use a cloak and a dagger, they use the Internet. Communist China is not a free country; most of their major businesses are owned or controlled by the government and often the military. They also control the major universities. These resources are used by the Communist Chinese to spy on the West, particularly the United States.

Our high technology military forces are the envy of the world. Our high technology industry leads the world in most applications. The Chinese try everything they can to obtain this technology, even stealing it. They know it is much cheaper to spend a few million dollars to steal the plans for a new military jet than it is to spend billions to try and build one on their own.

We need to do many things to combat this treat. Many computers need to be off line, and should never be hooked up to the Internet. Many computers need better password protection and our industry needs to work on techniques to make all computers more secure, identity theft, credit card theft and even just spam need to be controlled much better. The United States also needs to develop and utilize cyber attack abilities on our own. We need to be able to shut down our enemies computers. We need to be able to hack into Iranian or Communist Chinese systems and harm their economy in retaliation for attacks by them, or as a way to insure our own self interest. If the Chinese were to shut down all our nuclear ballistic missiles what would be do about it? Launch a first strike with bombers against them? Bring a complaint with the UN and place a nasty memo in their file folder? We need to make it clear that cyber attacks are attacks, and respond accordingly; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Ladies Room for Men?

http://www.libertyaction.org/344/petition.asp?PID=33758368&NID=1

Macy’s Department stores apparently has a policy that allows men to use the ladies dressing rooms if they choose to do so. The “rights” of a few Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender people apparently are more important than the right of privacy for all women. Macy’s permits people to select their gender of the day and then allow them to use whatever changing rooms they choose to utilize.

When my wife or daughter go to a store and want to try on clothing, they go to the ladies dressing rooms. Their intention is that they will have the privacy of trying on clothing alone or in the company of other women. Not in the company of men. Apparently in this country women have a right to privacy only when it applies to abortion rights. They don’t have a right to change clothing without a man standing outside the stall or in the stall next to them. In California, this is even the law! Our Governor seldom misses an opportunity to forward the homosexual agenda.

A Christian woman at Macys tried to prevent a man who was dressed as a woman from using a changing stall recently and she was fired. She said her Christian conscience was bothered by permitting men into the dressing room where women were changing clothes. I hate to even consider what happens at Macys restrooms. I know the next time we shop for clothing it won’t be at Macys; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Taiwan

http://smallwarsjournal.com/blog/this-week-at-war-preparing-for-the-next-korean-war

=

Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and the United States all face potential conflict with either North Korea or Communist China. I think the United States should work harder to develop a defense and free and fair trade pact that will bond those nations together, sort of a NATO/ EU type system, but without the loss of sovereignty and common currency.

The United States spends far too much on trade with Communist China. If we moved about two thirds of that trade to South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Australia and the bring the rest of it bring back home we would all have enough money to pay for higher defense budgets against dangerous Communist governments who threaten us constantly.

The United States needs to stop pretending that there is one China. There are two Chinas and Taiwan is never going back with Communist China until the communists are out of power. Just as in East Germany and the Soviet Union I hope that day will come soon, but I doubt it. The United States needs to take more initiative and leadership in the world and stop simply reacting to every bad thing that happens, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Budget

The Congress has been struggling for months to put a budget deal together. Rather than confront the real problems faced by this nation, they have stalled, formed special committees and passed short term bills. One of those short term bills increases fees on people applying for a mortgage. No need to try and increase home ownership for more Americans, which would only create stability and increase or stabilize home values.

The Congress should be looking at ways to cut the budget, without harming the middle class. I think they should cut the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Energy and the Department of Education. Energy production and development is the job of private industry. The Federal Department of Energy has not generated a single watt of electricity and yet costs us billions of dollars per year. Most of their essential functions could be done by the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security and the rest probably don’t need to be done at all.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is doing a job that is better done by the states or the local governments. I don’t need some guy in Washington telling me where to build a housing project or who should be given welfare for a free apartment. The Department of Education is doing a local function. They don’t educate anyone; their few legitimate functions could be taking over by state and local governments, mostly school districts where local people can determine what their kids learn. We don’t need the Federal Government to do most of these tasks that local government can do better, cheaper and with greater accountability; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Tax Other People

http://www.gallup.com/poll/149567/Americans-Favor-Jobs-Plan-Proposals-Including-Taxing-Rich.aspx?utm_source=alert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=syndication&utm_content=morelink&utm_term=Politics

A recent Gallop poll says that American support the President Obama jobs plan according to the media interpretation. I see things differently. It seems to me that what people really want is for the government to tax anyone other than themselves. I would like to have seen more questions asked to determine what the respondents really mean.

People who make less that $200,000 a year probably don’t mind if people who make more than that have to pay more taxes. I would also like to know how much more taxes they think these people are paying now and how much more they think these people should have to pay. I would also like to know how much money they thing these tax increases will bring in to the government.

The survey also says they want the Federal Government to pay for more teachers, schools, police, firemen and repairs to schools. What the survey does not make clear is that those tasks are not the job of the Federal Government. Police and fire protection, as well as schools and teachers are local responsibilities. People in New York should not pay for police or teachers in New Mexico. That’s part of the problem with the Federal Government; they are doing tasks that are not their job; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

This article argues that North Korea is developing weapons and techniques to deploy electromagnetic weapons, Special Forces troops, and cyber attacks against South Korea. As a response, the author says South Korea should shift spending from convention defense to a defense against asymmetrical warfare. This should not be an either or situation. In my opinion, asymmetrical warfare by a nation state such as North Korea is useful for two reasons.

They can harass the South Korean and American forces using the occasional raid, cyber attack to kill a few people and crash a few systems. This is not too different from what they have been doing of firing on patrol craft, and firing artillery across the border. The real danger is that they will determine our vulnerabilities and then use these unconventional attacks as the lead in to a conventional war.

Based upon what North Korea has already done or has been working on, I can imagine a scenario where they use a terrorist bombing to murder important South Korean officials. They follow it up with a massive EMP burst to kill most South Korean and American computers then a huge cyber attack to disrupt the few that remain. Once the command staff is dead, wounded, or unable to communicate that would be the time to launch their conventional attack across the border. We have to be ready to face all forms of attack from North Korea, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Right War or Wrong War?

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/12/22/why-are-preparing-to-fight-wrong-war-again/

America has always had to fight two kinds of warfare. Low intensity conflict against irregular forces and high intensity conflict against conventional forces. As soon as our most recent war has ended we revert back to preparing for the most politically popular option for the future.

Low intensity conflict requires large numbers of troops on the ground. It is an infantry heavy type of conflict. Large numbers of troops have to garrison towns, villages and patrol into the hills, jungles, forests, and swamps to find a small and elusive enemy. This was true when we fought Mohawk Indians, and Sioux Indians and Sandinistas in the interwar period, the Viet Cong and now Al Qaeda.

High intensity conflict involves large numbers of tanks, aircraft carriers, and sometimes weapons of mass destruction. Just like we fought in the Civil War, two World Wars, The Korean War and were ready to fight in the Cold War against the Evil Empire of the Soviet Union. We need to stop choosing between these two kinds of war. We need to be prepared to fight either one on a moments notice. Our military needs to have massive Reserve and National Guard forces that can be called upon in a major emergency. Our standing Army needs to be large enough that our troops don’t have to cycle through deployments constantly breaking down their readiness. We need a large military capable of multiple missions; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
