TV News

Watching the news coverage of the Republicans who are considering a run for the presidential nomination they are spending all their time talking about the horse race aspect of the process. They never once explained any of the issues in this election. They never once explained the position of any of the candidates.

What they did do is discuss polling numbers. They talked about who was up in the numbers and down in the numbers. They talked about people who were considering an announcement to run for the Republican nomination but not about what they wanted to do if they were to be elected.

The news media is supposed to inform us about the issues of the day. During an election cycle they should tell us where the various candidates stand on the issues. They should tell us about the experience of the candidates. We need to know the track record of the candidates, did they serve in office and how did they do in that office. We need to know about the ethics and morality of each candidate. Too often the news media is simply telling us about who they think is ahead, who may run for office and other non-news; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Hey Bunkermeister! Believe it or not, I'm linking this post on my blog! I hope you don't mind, but the comment I was going to leave is on the list of political rants I was planning to publish. (If you object, I'll take down the link.)
