The presidential election is the Republicans to lose. They need to get their act together and select a candidate that they can all rally behind. Republicans also need to remember the 11th commandment, thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican. It is difficult to run negative advertising against your opponent in the primary and then endorse him if you lose that race. In the primary election they should all select the strategy to run against President Obama, not each other.

That will provide them with several advantages. It will politically weaken the President by pointing up his many flaws before the full campaign gets started. It will help to keep the Republicans united rather than fighting among themselves. It will also show which techniques resonate best with the voters.

The Republicans also need to select a candidate that is an excellent public speaker who can communicate their message. They need a candidate that has an excellent track record of achievement and has been consistent with a message that conforms to the Republican platform. The candidate must energize the Republican base, so that they will work for him to get out the vote and donate money to his campaign. The candidate must be a true Republican and not just a fiscal conservative, but a social conservative also; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

People and organizations and governments have a right to privacy. Some groups release information that is secret. They claim that they are trying to fight evil and corruption, but that’s simply saying the end justifies the means. They also speak of releasing information that dissenters want released. Just because you disagree with someone does not mean you have the right to make public their confidential information. The public does not have a right to know everything.

Individuals, companies and governments often conduct studies, or mull over ideas that they never actually do, and sometimes never intend to do. That does not mean they want that information made public. When you send an email to your spouse, your boss, a co-worker you don’t expect that others will read it. Generally your intention is that only the recipient will see that email. While there are exceptions, we reasonably expect that a joke or funny picture will be forwarded; proper Internet etiquette says the originator email addresses should be removed.

Most organizations have internal checks on the behavior of their employees. Governments have police, inspectors general, and others who can investigate corruption. While as a police officer, certainly I don’t want individuals or groups to commit crimes or immoral acts, I also don’t want my privacy or the privacy of others to be violated by people who have political or social agendas. Hacking into commercial and government systems is a dangerous crime that needs to be stopped. Just as governments must have probable cause or a court order to spy on me to protect my privacy, others should be held to a high standard before they can violate my privacy as well, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

F-16 For Taiwan

Taiwan is one of America’s most stalwart allies. We have helped them defend themselves from Communist aggression for over 60 years. Now they need to upgrade their aircraft fleet and they want to buy F-16 fighter planes from the United States. The Taiwanese simply want the tools to defend themselves. They are not asking for American troops or American aircraft to defend Taiwan.

The Taiwanese are asking to purchase millions of dollars of defense equipment. They need training, spare parts, and fighter jets. The F-16 is not the most modern jet aircraft in the world, selling them to Taiwan will not upset the balance of power anywhere. We will not be giving up secrets to a foreign power. We will be selling planes to a stalwart ally who can use these planes to prevent an invasion of their homeland. This sale will actually reduce the likelihood of a war, by keeping Taiwanese forces strong enough to defend against a Communist Chinese attack.

The United States should not let our relations with Communist China trump our relationship with Taiwan. Our international credibility is important and the Taiwanese have always looked to America as a friend and ally. We should not let them down, we should sell them all the weapons they need to defend themselves from Communist aggression; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Peace Talks

The Afghanistan government says they are in peace talks negotiations with the Taliban. The Obama Administration says they support a peace settlement agreed upon by the Afghan government and will not confirm they are in negotiations with the Taliban. What happened to the concept of unconditional surrender? What happened to the concept of victory? What happened to the idea that we don’t negotiate with terrorists?

The Obama Administration keeps saying they want to put timetables on the withdrawal of American troops. They keep saying they want to end the war in Afghanistan. Those types of comments only come from weakness. The Obama Administration never says they are working towards victory. They never say they are going to do whatever it takes to defeat our enemy. They never say that we will bear any burden, support any friend, and pay any price to support the cause of freedom. Troops should only be withdrawn when victory is acheived or when they are being deployed to fight a greater threat.

When fighting a war a nation must commit to victory. The nation must be willing to do whatever it takes to defeat the enemy. It may take a long time. It may mean that soldiers must die in numbers greater than we expected. It may be unpopular and cost a lot of money. The price of defeat is too great for a great nation to bear. We took over twenty years to recover from the defeat in the Viet Nam War. We still have troops in South Korea, for over fifty years because we failed to defeat the enemy. We had to return to Iraq because we failed to defeat Saddam. There is no substitute for victory, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Wiki Treason is Fashionable

The main stream media are praising those involved in the Wiki Leaks scandal. They are two men, one homosexual soldier and the other accused of sexual assault who the media think are doing a great service to mankind. For a solder to release classified information is a breach of faith and a violation of his oath. For a foreigner to then publish that information is a form of espionage. These people are not fashionable, they are criminals.

Information is classified for a reason. Typically it is classified to protect operational information or to protect the means by which the information was collected. The failure to keep this information confidential can mean a loss of the ability to collect more information in the future, or a failure of current or future operations, or embarrass the government. Too many in the media are anti-establishment and anti-American and they hide behind the public’s right to know as they try and damage America and her allies.

Just as people have a right to privacy; governments also have a need to keep things private. An assessment of a foreign government or government employees can be important to operations with that government, but does not need to be public. The unauthorized release of classified information can cost governments millions of dollars, and even the lives of operatives can be in danger. It is not up to low level employees, soldiers or the media who determine who has the right to know. There are procedures in place for Freedom of Information requests when specific information is needed. Treason is not a fashion statement, it is a crime that rates death, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Outsourcing to China

I am all for global trade. There are products made or grown all over the world that I want to buy. Trade should have certain strings attached. The first issue is that we should never compromise our national defense by becoming dependant on other nations for critical products or components that we can’t make here. We should not trade much with nations that are potential enemies. We should use our trade dollars as leverage to assist in creating freedom for the citizens of other nations who want our trade dollars.

Trade should be a benefit for both the parties involved at a personal level, company level and national level. American imports billions of dollars worth of goods. We have a moral duty to insure that those billions of dollars are used responsibility. Those dollars can be used to employ workers in India or Africa or they can go to oil rich enemies in the Middle East or to Communist Chinese companies owned or partially controlled by the Chinese military.

Free market economies are huge engines to provide jobs and freedom. We need to use that power wisely. Nations like Communist China who limit reproductive rights, who stifle freedom of religion, who imprison political dissidents, who threaten nations friendly to the United States don’t deserve as much of our money as they now receive. We need to look to return some of this manufacturing to the United States. We need to look to moving some of it to Mexico, or India or Africa where the jobs are greatly needed and were human rights are respected; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Too Much Regulation & Not Enough

The Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights to the Constitution of the United States says that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The right to an abortion is not even in the Constitution, but is interpreted by liberal courts as existing, despite the fact that abortion was illegal in the Colonies and certainly none of the Founding Fathers had any intention to make it legal. The liberals tell us that shall not be infringed means that a waiting period is okay before we buy a gun. So why is it not okay to have a waiting period before a woman can have an abortion?

The liberals tell us that screening people who want to buy a gun is okay, even if it takes a week or longer. The same liberals tell us that collecting or reporting data on abortion recipients violates their rights and privacy. Liberals tell us that children as young as 14 years old must have access to an abortion, even without the permission of their parents and even if they can’t pay for the abortion. The same liberals tells us to pass laws to keep guns out of the hands of children and that even a toy gun or drawing of a gun at school is grounds for expulsion from school.

Guns in the hands of the people are the greatest defense of the liberties of all of us. The recent events in the Middle East show us what the people can do to win their freedom against the established oppressive government. Libya and Syria have been the scenes of massacres of people because they have been unable to effectively fight back against their oppressive regimes, they don’t have the right to keep and bear arms. This right is being eroded and taken away in much of the United States today and our other freedoms are in danger; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Chinese Christians Arrested

The Communist Chinese have arrested members of a Protestant church who were trying to hold and outdoor service in a public park. These Communists have also held pastors in jail and under house arrest. The godless Chinese Communists control a vast empire that receives billions of dollars in trade with the United States. They also receive vast technical information from the West.

The United States needs to make religious freedom a cornerstone of our foreign policy. From godless Communists to Muslim fanatics who refuse to let Christians worship the god of their choice in peace. The US needs to use its’ good offices to encourage these nations to allow Christians to worship, to proselytize, to conduct church services and to participate in any peaceful religious activity. Those nations that do not permit this should not receive most favored nation trading status.

Nations that continue to deny their citizens basic human rights, such as freedom of religion should not be able to count upon the protection and trade with the United States. While we need to act in our own best interest and that may mitigate the nature of what we do when nations abuse their citizens, we need to let other nations know we consider religious freedom to be important to use for all people; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Aid to Afghanistan

When we spend money on foreign aid it should be to provide for the national defense, law enforcement, government infrastructure, food aid, and not much else. Food aid should be coupled by instruction and materials to allow the nation to grow more and better food so that the food shortage will end by the time of the next harvest. Market principles should be explained so that farmers can produce crops that work on that soil and will be purchased by the local people.

Wages paid to workers to build these projects should be comparable to those paid to other workers doing similar work. The goal should be to provide food and infrastructure to allow them to be independent of aid in the shortest period of time. Roads, clean water, electricity, sewage and food are the most important factors in allowing a company to develop.

People must have a stake in their nation. By providing short term jobs that provide long term benefits aid can help nations to over come a disaster, like war, and to move into the 21st Century. The goal should not be eternal aid, it should be development of infrastructure so that the people will have a stake in their economy and the ability to make a living for themselves; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Not Racism, or Shameful

As several states keep passing laws to permit their local police to enforce immigration laws I keep seeing signs that say that these laws are both racist and shameful. It is neither of these. It is not racist to detain and investigate people who may be in the nation illegally. Every nation has this right. All legal aliens are required to carry proof of their immigration status. Several of the 9/11 attackers were here illegally having overstayed their visas. One other attacker was refused entry to the United States.

It is not shameful for law enforcement to enforce the laws of the nation. That is what they are sworn to do, enforce the law. It is their duty. Various states are aware that the Federal Government has been unable or unwilling to enforce immigration laws and by adding the 700,000 local police to that task we could actually solve the immigration problem without any significant expense.

That’s the real reason that opponents to local enforcement of immigration laws won’t argue the law. They would rather call people names and make outrageous charges against the character of those who oppose their view. There are nearly a million law enforcement officer in the USA. If each one arrested one illegal alien per month, in two and a half years they could deport 30 million illegal aliens for almost not cost; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

New Heresy

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mormons, are Christian heretics. Their beliefs are not in line with main stream Christianity. Their understanding of the Trinity, baptism, salvation, and the nature of Christ are not in keeping with historical Christian teachings.

During this election cycle there are those who are Mormon who are trying to blur the distinction between their beliefs and those of main stream Christians. They have been trying to pray in public with Christians as if their beliefs were the same as Christians. Certainly there is nothing wrong with reaching out to others and respecting their beliefs. There may even be some validity of saying a vague prayer in public with others who are not Christians.

We must be careful, however, that we do not fall for the heresy that Mormons are Christians in the same understanding as Catholic Christians, Orthodox Christians or even Protestants and Baptist Christians. The main stream media seldom has any religious understanding and my try to depict Mormons as Christians; we must not rely upon them for our religious understanding; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Superman Renounces Citizenship

Comic book superheroes have long been role models for American children since at least the 1930s. During World War Two, Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman fought the Japanese, Italians and Germans alongside American and Allied forces. During the Cold War they helped fight the spread of Communism.

Now during the War on Radical Islamic Terrorist comic book heroes have been absent at best and sympathetic to the enemy at worst. After the 9/11 attacks Captain America was said to have in part blamed America for the attacks. Now Superman is renouncing his American citizenship.

This is typical of the leftists in the media. They live and work in the freest nation in the world. The nation that has provided them with a standard of living higher than anywhere else and they turn around and bite the hand that feeds them. There is nothing wrong with loving your nation and yet Hollywood and the mainstream media seem to be unaware of that, so they give us entertainment that is anti-American and expect Americans to buy it. I certainly will not; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Muslim Dogs

In the UK there have been Muslim taxi cab drivers and Muslim bus drivers who have refused service to blind people because they had guide dogs. Islam is the religion of peace and yet to their definition of peace, blind people are not entitled to live their lives as independent people with the assistance of a guide dog.

Guide dogs allow blind people to move about their community with safety and confidence. I can imagine few disabilities worse than being blind. Those who serve the public must serve the public without discrimination, especially if they work for a public system, such as a bus company or regulated taxi service.

The Muslims said they did not want the blind person to bring a guide dog onto the bus because their religion says that dogs are unclean animals. When acting in the public interest you sometimes have to sublimate your personal beliefs in order to provide the proper service to members of the public. This is only one more example of how radical Islam is not compatible with modern life in the Western world, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

TV News

Watching the news coverage of the Republicans who are considering a run for the presidential nomination they are spending all their time talking about the horse race aspect of the process. They never once explained any of the issues in this election. They never once explained the position of any of the candidates.

What they did do is discuss polling numbers. They talked about who was up in the numbers and down in the numbers. They talked about people who were considering an announcement to run for the Republican nomination but not about what they wanted to do if they were to be elected.

The news media is supposed to inform us about the issues of the day. During an election cycle they should tell us where the various candidates stand on the issues. They should tell us about the experience of the candidates. We need to know the track record of the candidates, did they serve in office and how did they do in that office. We need to know about the ethics and morality of each candidate. Too often the news media is simply telling us about who they think is ahead, who may run for office and other non-news; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Sell Federal Assets

Some are calling for the sale of Federal assets to raise money for the government. I agree, we should be selling Federal assets. We should be selling oil, gas, mineral, and timber leases to private companies so they can do drilling and mining and harvesting of those riches. That will provide jobs, energy security, reduce the trade deficit and provide more income to the Federal government.

That money should be used to pay down the national debt and buy back debt from foreign nations, particularly those like Communist China that don’t always have our best interest at heart. We should also be cutting our spending, privatize many of the Federal programs and streamline our tax laws in a revenue neutral method. A cleaner tax system would enable people to spend less money on tax preparation and use that money for more productive spending.

$400 billion dollars worth of gold sits in Fort Knox, which would run the Federal government for about three months. Selling that money would do nothing to stop our budget crisis, it would only postpone it for three months and we would be right back where we started. There is plenty the government can give up, but selling the gold reserve is not one of those things; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

New Laws

We need to reform our laws as they relate to the punishment of felons. I propose that certain rights be denied to convicted felons while they are in prison. People who have been convicted of terrible crimes should not profit from those crimes and should be punished for the deeds they have done. Society should be protected from these people. We should be allowed to determine their identity and be able to determine if they can be linked to previous crimes and any subsequent crimes they may commit.

We should not permit these criminals to enjoy the intimate company of another person while they are in prison. They should not make money based on their crimes and they should not spend their time making money.

They must provide a DNA sample to be placed in a national data base.

They must provide fingerprints, retina scan, and facial recognition information and other bio-recognition information.

They cannot vote in any election.

They cannot run for or hold elected office.

They cannot have conjugal visits.

They cannot get married, buy real property, or enter into contracts.

They cannot profit from their crime by writing books, movies, or other methods.

These are laws that the states and Federal government must pass to keep our society safe. We must focus on restricting the rights of criminals, not the good people, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Job Searching

When selecting a candidate in a primary election there are several factors to consider. The first factor is the candidate should fully support the party platform. There is no point in electing politicians who don’t actually believe what the party believes. If you want to do that, vote for the guy from the other party. The next factor is the consistency of the candidate. Past performance is the best predictor of future behavior.

If a candidate was once pro-abortion, why do they now claim to be pro-life? Unless there is a major life changing incident then it may be the candidate has simply changed their position for political purposes. The other part of this is to pin them down on their definitions. A formerly pro-abortion candidate who is now pro-life needs to explain not only why they are now pro-life but exactly what that means to them and what they intend to do about it. A candidate who says they are pro-life but does not believe in imposing their views on others through legislation is not really pro-life.

Another factor to consider is the personal life of the candidate. The candidate should make a reasonable effort to live their life in conformance to their ideals. Certainly none of us is perfect but a presidential candidate who constantly speaks of the need for a strong national defense should be a veteran. A candidate who wants the Christian vote should regularly attend a Christian church with main line Christian beliefs, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

States Are Right

For decades the Federal Government has used the excuse that since they have the right to regulate interstate commerce, they have the right to regulate everything that crosses state lines. As a result the Federal Government has placed severe limits on everything from machine guns to light bulbs. Now several states have struck a blow for individual rights and freedom with a new concept to circumvent that Federal Power.

The states are manufacturing products to be sold solely within their borders. In Tennessee firearms that are in violation of Federal law are being produced. They bear the marking “Made in Tennessee” and are sold only within that state, exempting them from Federal regulation. The state of South Carolina is making it possible to produce incandescent light bulbs in their state marked “Made in South Carolina.” They are to be manufactured and sold strictly within the state of South Carolina.

This is a brilliant idea. Since the Federal courts and Congress claim the right to regulate interstate commerce and the right to regulate items that are intended for interstate commerce they have pushed into far too many aspects of our lives. The beauty of the Federal system is that individual states can do what works best for them without having to obey the rules of courts and legislatures that may be thousands of miles away. I hope this trend continues in other areas; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Nightmare Act

While the Democrats keep pushing the DREAM Act, I see it instead as the NIGHTMARE ACT. It shows the Democrats don’t understand the nature of the problem with illegal immigration. They want to permit illegal aliens who go to college in the United States to be able to stay in the US. This is one of the very reasons why many people are so upset about illegal immigration. Aliens come to America they don’t pay American taxes and yet they get government services, like college often for free or at low cost.

College is expensive and many Americans can’t afford to send their kids to college. Many colleges are full and have to limit attendance. Many Americans are paying huge taxes to support their state and community colleges. Is it fair to them to permit illegal aliens to attend college at American expense and allow them to bump Americans from attending school by taking spaces Americans could have had? Then we reward them by allowing them to become legal residents?

If an illegal alien serves honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States, then I would be willing as a result of that honorable service to grant them legal status after five years of service. At least by joining the Armed Forces they have shown a willingness to serve their adopted nation. What concerns me, however, is how can illegal aliens be accepted into the Armed Forces? It seems we need a better background check for prospective military men; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Woman to Man

CNN reports that Chaz Bono has switched from woman to man. No, she has not. Her DNA is still female. This person has had a series of medical treatments and surgeries that give the exterior illusion that she is a male. It is not actually the case that she has become a man. If a person has undergone a “sex change” operation they are only pretending that they have changed their sex.

This is part of what I see as a terrible trend in medicine in the last fifty years. Doctors have given up on the Hippocratic Oath. The perform abortions. They perform assisted suicides. They do harm to their patients and pretend they are helping them, all in the name of making money.

Women get breast implants, not simply because they have had a radical mastectomy and want reconstructive surgery but simply because they want to have giant breasts. They get implants that are ridiculously huge so that men will pay attention to them. People get giant teeth implanted and even horns and other bumps placed under their skin. Doctors are supposed to care for the physical and mental health of their patients. Not buy into their mental disorders and feed their illness with unneeded surgeries and body modifications, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Tax Them All

Gasoline hovers at four dollars per gallon. Unemployment hovers at nine percent. Local, state and national deficits are at all time highs. Government debt is out of control. Housing is slow, consumer confidence is low. The trade deficit with Communist China continues at extreme levels. What’s the solution that Democrats want, from the Mayor of Los Angeles, the Governor of California and the President of the United States? Raise taxes on the rich!

That’s the answer to all problems. Raise taxes. On the rich. Or on corporations. Or on rich corporations. Or on the middle class. Or anyone with money. Democrats see money as the solution for all problems, provided that money is spent by the government. They see government spending money as the solution to all problems not individuals spending their own money as they see fit. The rich have lots of money and they don’t do anything good with it, it just sits there in bank vaults, doing nothing. It’s not helping anyone like it will if it goes to pay for unionized government employees.

When the rich spend money on yachts and private jets that money is just wasted, according to the Democrats. So years ago they put a luxury tax on yachts and private aircraft. That’s why all those good middle class jobs building and servicing yachts and private planes have all gone to Italy, Spain and China, where they don’t have a luxury tax on yachts and private planes. The power to tax is the power to destroy. The Democrats have taxed the rich and destroyed two industries that employed thousands of middle class workers. We need to remember that every time our mayor, our governor or our President tells us to tax the rich; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Resign Now

Congressman Weiner was involved in a sexting scandal. He was flirting with several women on the Internet and when his activities were made public he lied about them. Congressman Weiner should resign immediately. He claimed he had been a victim of a crime and lied when he was asked direct questions. Someone who publicly lies over and over again for a week about a minor incident does not deserve to be a Congressman.

One of the characteristics that politicians repeatedly feature when they run for office is their integrity. What Congressman Weiner did is not all that terrible. He should not have been sending sexual messages to other women when he is married but I don’t think that was bad enough to warrant his resignation. What is bad enough is the constant lying about the incident. The Democrats will call for investigations, but at the conclusion of the investigation they will give him a slap on the wrist months or even years from now.

This lying caused the press to look to blame people for this incident and at least one main stream media outlet blamed a conservative for trying to make the Congressman look bad. The Congressman made himself look bad. It is time for Congressman Weiner to resign. There are millions of people in New York City; certainly they can find one with more integrity than Congressman Weiner; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

I think Newt Gingrich would be a great president. I think he will be a poor candidate. Very conservative social conservatives will not be every enthusiastic about voting for him; that will translate into low monetary contributions and that those hard core conservative voters will unlikely work for him. Newt Gingrich is on his third wife and after that will also not sit well with others.

Newt Gingrich has also had problems with the media. While he is very clear about what his positions are, the main stream media dislikes the fact that he is a strong conservative and has been effective in getting legislation passed when he was in the House. The media will therefore spread dis-information about him and they will show everything about him with a negative spin.

When Newt Gingrich was Speaker of the House, there US added millions of jobs, pushed down the unemployment rate, pushed down the deficit and even passed a balanced budget for the first time in decades. Newt Gingrich would be an excellent candidate, if he can get elected; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Defund Law Schools

Judge stays gay marriage ban.

Judge stays immigration enforcement bill.

Judge stays abortion ban.

Judges all over the country thwarting the will of the majority. They are forcing their liberal agenda on the people. The people vote for a bill, it becomes law and the courts block implementation of the law. The legislature votes for a law and the courts block implementation of the law.

The judges fail to recues themselves on cases where they are personally affected by the laws they rule on. Judges consistently enforce rules that they have made up without judicial precedent. Judges use foreign laws and apply them to American law to try and force Americans to do things the judges want done. Judges may even consider Sharia law to circumvent American laws.

Judges should serve for specified terms and should be removed by the people if they don’t rule according to the will of the people. Judges too often have a liberal agenda and they are used as tools of the left to further that agenda. Politicians need to make it harder to become lawyers. We need judges who are strict constructionist rather than liberal activists. While the services of attorneys are sometimes valuable, too often they are self serving, only interested in either money or a liberal agenda. Activists judges are out of control and need to be reigned in by our legislatures; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

No Tanks

The US Army wants to stop the construction and refurbishment of tanks at the Lima Tank Plant. This is the only place in the United States were American tanks are manufactured. The War on Radical Islamic Terrorists does not use many tanks and few of them have been damaged or worn out in combat operations. As a result the Army does not want to make any more for three years.

What the Army does not understand or has chosen to ignore is that the highly skilled work force that makes these tanks will dissipate over a three year period. They will have to leave and get other jobs. When the plant is brought back on line in three years, those employees will be gone and there is no guarantee they will come back. Those that do return will be rusty after having been off work for three years; it could be four or five years before full production could resume.

The second problem is that if there is a major conventional war in the meantime, there will be no source for tanks. You can’t just turn tank production off and on like a water faucet. Even if we don’t need the tanks right now we should be stockpiling them for the next war. The Abrams tank is the best tank in the world and will probably be on battlefields for at least another 20 years, maybe longer. Cutting tank production to save money is not a good way to reduce spending; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Global Warming

The word is out that ice machines in your refrigerator / freezer is causing global warming. So now having a few ice cubes in your Coca-Cola is destroying the planet. The real problem is that the liberals who push global warming have no sense of humor and don’t want anyone to have fun or an easy life.

Don’t drive your car, ride your bike to work, you don’t want to be comfortable while the planet is being destroyed. If you do drive a car, drive a tiny, dangerous electric or hybrid car, because it’s better to be killed in a traffic collision than to fail to save the planet.

Don’t have children because humans are the cause of global warming. Humans are destroying the planet. We don’t want to you experience the joys of child rearing or the love of family or follow the command of God to go forth and multiply. You need to stay single, live in a tiny home, unheated, wearing a sweater to try and stay warm. You need to eat rice and beans, no beef; that causes global warming or chickens; killing them is inhumane. I think there is no reason why we can’t manage the planet and still have a life of opportunity, prosperity and ease. I still believe in a future where man can work with nature and where nature is against us we can conquer nature; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Why Do We Grow?

Why can California rate so poorly with business leaders and yet not have its economy collapse? One might think that the super high tax rates and heavy handed regulation as well as terrible court climate would kill just about any business. The reason California still continues to function is that the state has advantages that are not always calculated in the average business rating. Advantages that are so good even the anti-business leadership of Governor Brown cannot destroy them.

Our old infrastructure cannot be easily moved. The Golden Gate Bridge, the San Diego Zoo and Disneyland cannot be picked up and moved to Texas. So despite our high taxes, tourists will still come here and spend money at these venues. These places still generate revenue and create jobs despite the poor business climate. The Monterey Coast, the Redwood trees, the Yosemite Forest are wonderful places. The overregulation of the state government does little to dim the beauty of these places.

California is a massive port of entry for goods from Mexico, Japan, Communist China and all of the Pacific Rim. This is another part of California that is part of the basic goodness of the state that is hard for liberals to kill off with anti-business policies. The natural advantages of California are fantastic and there is no reason why we should not have a dynamic economy that is roaring along, with full employment, low taxes, low regulation, firearms freedom and a sensible tort environment. Unfortunately, the liberal Republicans and leftist Democrats that have run the state for much of the last fifty years have managed to destroy our freedoms and run business into the ground, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Welfare for Booze

California Democrats refused to pass a bill that would have prevented the use of welfare dollars on alcohol and tobacco. In California welfare recipients have been given an debit card to pay for their purchases. They have used the money to go to Las Vegas, Indian gaming casinos, and strip clubs. The governor signed an executive order to prevent the use of these debit cards at those places. The law still permits welfare recipients to spend their welfare dollars on cigarettes and alcohol.

Welfare is supposed to be for the poorest of the poor. It is supposed to support them with money for food, clothing and shelter. It is supposed to provide them with just enough to get by on. Ironically, the state is trying to get people to stop smoking, citing all the health risks of tobacco products. Yet, despite this Democrats refused to vote to stop welfare funds being spent on alcohol and tobacco.

One of the reasons many people don’t give to panhandlers is that they don’t want to support the drug, alcohol, or tobacco habits of the homeless person. Those very habits probably contributed greatly to the reason the person is homeless in the first place. Apparently the Democrats who run the state legislature don’t share those concerns and are okay with poor people continuing to smoke and drink with someone elses money; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Bin Hiding

In the mountains of Afghanistan at one a.m. OBL gets into a Toyota Land Cruiser with tinted windows. He rides to his compound in darkness and exits the vehicle behind the closed gate. He stays inside the compound, if not the buildings for the next couple years. The women, his wife and children, do the shopping and are the only face the compound presents to the world.

A half mile away the Pakistan military trains officers. There is no reason to think they have any idea that OBL is less than a kilometer away from them. Just as murders, drug deals and other crimes happen less than a mile from the White House, West Point and Annapolis there is no reason to think the presidential staff or cadets would prevent or know about these crimes.

All that is required is that OBL and his clique of people inside his compound to stay quiet, stay out of public view not draw any undue attention to themselves. When was the last time government agents came to your house? Why would the government of Pakistan know about OBL and where he was located? Even if individual members of the Pakistan government knew where OBL was at does not mean it was government policy to protect OBL from the USA. I do not think it was in their interest to know where he was and not report his whereabouts to us. In fact, I think it would have been to their advantage to capture him and present him to us. Just because the US did not inform the Pakistani government does not mean we were concerned that they were working against us. It means that for operational security we did not tell anyone who did not need to know about the raid; and that’s how it should have been. We should not have told anyone until the raid was well in progress or even until it was over. That is just good operational art; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Can’t Grade Teachers or Schools?

Our educational establishment says it is not fair to grade schools or to grade teachers. They don’t want standardized testing from a Federal or State level. They claim there are many reasons why this is unfair. Teachers and schools don’t get to pick the students they teach. Sometimes the students are disadvantaged in some way so they are harder to teach. The lack of resources, computers, software, and air conditioning make learning more difficult for some students. Children get grades from teachers at least twice a year, at the end of each semester. Some kids have broken homes. Some kids are disadvantaged in some way so it is harder for them to learn. Some kids attend class in classrooms that lack computers, up to date software and no air conditioning. So it may not be fair to grade them the same way as other students.

However, once kids get into the real world, their boss is going to want them to perform despite any hardships. In the job market they have to compete against international standards of job performance. If the kids can’t do the work, then their jobs will disappear. We need to stop making excuses and looking for the easy way to pass kids along and insist that our schools educate our children. Socrates learned to read and write without a computer or modern software. Abraham Lincoln learned to add despite the lack of air conditioning in his school.

I think every parent should be given a voucher to pay a certain amount of money for one school year. The voucher should be accepted by any public school for one year of tuition cost. Private schools should be given an equal amount of money if a parent elects to pick a private school. That money can be applied to the tuition of the private school and parents can make up the difference with their own money, if needed.. There should be no restriction on what kind of school the parents can select, private, religious, public or secular. By introducing true competition in our schools we can improve them by using the forces of the market and allowing parents to select what is best for their kids, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
