Carter Talks to North Korea

Former President Carter is in North Korea. He wants to convince the North Koreans to talk to the South Koreans. What a waste of time and effort that will be for South Korea. Liberals think that the simple fact that two nations are talking indicates progress is being made in understanding the issues and working to resolve those issues. This is a naive and even dangerous understanding of international politics.

Nations talk because they want to achieve an advantage. If they think they can obtain that advantage by conversation then they will talk. This is generally true when two nations sit down together with the intent to work out mutual problems without any hidden agendas at work.

This has historically not been true with Communist nations unless they are under great stress, even threats to their existence. Communist North Korea frequently violates the UN cease fire and even attacks and sinks South Korean ships without provocation. North Korea also cheated on their nuclear proliferation agreements. North Korea has even counterfeited US currency. Not the acts of a nation that can be trusted to keep their word in any negotiation; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Libyan Responsibility President Obama committed the forces of the United States to a war on Libya. He did this without the advice and consent of the US Congress. President Obama did get the United Nations to declare that use of force was authorized to protect civilians in Libya. The President also asked NATO to assist with the deployment of aircraft to create a no-fly zone over most of Libya.

I think the President Obama has done this without asking permission from the Congress so that the mission can stay vague. If anything goes wrong, President Obama can blame the United Nations. If things go well in Libya, President Obama can still claim that it was due to his action. The UN and NATO have asked for no fly zones and for protection of civilians. They have not asked for regime change, as President Obama has called for in Libya. So if the final result falls short of President Obama’s stated goal, then he can blame the UN or NATO for the failure to bring about regime change.

The president should be able to respond to an immediate need for military action with the consultation of Congress. The president is Commander in Chief. If the president has time to consult with NATO and the United Nations, then certainly he has time to get the approval of Congress before committing US troops to war. The US should be in Libya, Kaddafi is our enemy, and I support regime changer there, but President Obama needs to get the approval of Congress; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Turn off National Anthem

In the continuing drive of the main stream media to destroy American nationalism, they have been calling for the elimination of the singing of the National Anthem prior to sporting events. There have been several instances in recent years of various singers who were unable or unwilling to sing the National Anthem in a proper, decent and respectful manner. Some were even unable to recall the words to the song.

Rather than blame the singer for their bad performance they blame the song. If it was any other venue and the same singer did not perform their tune well, the critics would blame the singer. The National Anthem is not that difficult to sing and it is not a long and complex song. The problem is that these singers fail to treat their National Anthem performance as a real performance and so they don’t sing the song properly.

The people who are selected to sing the National Anthem should realize it’s not about them. It’s about paying tribute to our nation and those who worked hard to give us our freedom. The person singing the Anthem is there to lead the people in song, they are not there to provide an artistic rendering of their interpretation of the Anthem, nor are they there to make jokes. Leading the people in singing the National Anthem is a solemn responsibility and should be taken as such; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

We just had a 9.0 earthquake in Japan. It was followed by a tsunami that killed thousands. Then a nuclear power plant suffered a disastrous series of damage and leaks. People were left without power, water, food, or even houses in many cases. The main stream media has been bombarding us with minute by minute accounts of every bit of radiation leak or dog rescue they can get on video. They are also running around complaining that nuclear power plants all over the world are unsafe.

The main stream media is not acting in the public interest. They are creating fear of radiation yet not providing the proper context of the danger. They are also not providing the American people with any resources or information that will help them in the event of a real emergency.

Everyone needs to store at least three days of food, water, medicine and supplies in a safe place in their home. They need to keep a small amount of food and water in their car and at their workplace. Everyone must have this minimum so that they can care for themselves in the event of a temporary disruption of services. Over time, people should build up supplies to allow them to survive for longer periods of time. First a week, then a month are not unreasonable goals for people to attain. The media should be reminding us of this, not simply spreading fear, but rather giving us concrete actions we can take in an emergency; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Manufacturing Very Bad =

Back in the days of the Cold War the USA had an industrial policy to keep important businesses in operation in the United States. This was to keep the American industrial base strong so that in the event of a major war we would not be dependant on foreign sources for military and industrial procurement. We also wanted to keep the American economy strong to pay for the military equipment that the Cold War required.

Now in the post-Communist era we don’t seem to have an industrial policy. We come up will all kinds of policies without regard to how they affect the industries here in the United States. We pass a law against sexual harassment in the workplace and so in fear of lawsuits, companies move out of the country where such laws don’t apply. We pass laws requiring benefits for same sex partners, but to avoid the expense, companies move out of the country where such benefits are not required. We pass strict environmental, energy, union, and other laws and more companies move out of the United States to other countries where there is less regulation on business.

The United States has lost its’ edge because of government regulation. We no longer manufacture cellular phones in the United States. We don’t have a merchant marine anymore. We don’t make televisions here either. The United States used to be the leaders in steel and automobile, aircraft and computer technologies. Now we lead the world in lawyers who sue companies, business and government to increase the burden of regulation and lawsuits on businesses that actually make stuff. We need a new industrial policy to bring back American business and put people to work. If we can grow our economy and our middle class, many of our government funding problems will go away as our tax base increases. Cut regulations, cut taxes, get government out of our business; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Best Worst Cell Phones

Best and Worst Cell Phones: GoodGuide's Exclusive Ratings

I read an article recently that was billing as being about the best and worst cellular phones. I read the article and by the end, I still had no idea which phone was the either the best or the worst. The article spoke about cell phones but only in generalities. Too much of today’s news is just gossip, too many articles are just speculation or a rehash of old information pretending to be news.

Too many times recently I have been directed to an article about a particular topic and when I read the article it is either not at all about the stated subject or it contains so many qualifying terms that it is meaningless. I saw an article about an ancient Christian document. The headline claimed it was the oldest Christian document ever found. Then most of the article went on to say the document has been known for a decade and that the document came from a known dealer in forgeries. So really, a no news event being reported as news.

I was watching the news on ABC and they spent most of thirty minutes telling us about Dancing With the Stars and Oprah’s television show. This is not news; it is just commercials for other shows on television. The promise of the Internet was that information would be at our fingertips, yet too often it is just gossip or a rehash of old information. The main stream media likes to tell us how important their news is, but then they don’t actually tell us anything to keep us informed. News that is not news, and informational articles without information; pretty useless; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Gold is Up

When the price of gold is up it indicated that the value of the dollar is down and the world is nervous about security and stability. This month gold hit an all time high cost of over $1,500 per ounce. That means that relative to the price of gold, the American dollar is at an all time low. That’s one of the reasons that gasoline is so expensive, the dollar does not buy as much as it used to buy.

President Obama and the Democrats have driven this nation into the ground in two years. They have taken the value of the dollar down, unemployment have not been this high for this long since the end of the Second World War, and we are at war in three countries. Our trade deficit continues to be outrageously high and our exports are low.

The Democrats and President Obama seem to be willing to do something to fix our budget deficit, they want to perform some accounting tricks, make us wait longer to retire on Social Security and tax the rich. Cutting money from the Census that’s already over and not going to spend anyway is one of the accounting tricks the Administration has used to show their commitment to deficit reduction. They are talking about making people wait until age 67 to retire on Social Security. That way they have to continue making payments to the government that much longer. President Obama wants to increase income taxes on the rich from 34% to 39%. This is from a low tax rate under President Reagan of about 25%. Increasing taxes on the rich has not solved out deficit problem so far and if the government taxed everyone who makes $100,000 or more at a rate of 100% it would still not solve our deficit! We need to get the government out of the transfer payment business and grow the economy to get out of debt; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

When was the last time you went to church? Interesting how people say they don’t need to go to church to feel close to God, they can pray in a forest of mighty redwood trees, or on a magnificent sun drenched beach, but they never do that either. They need to go to church to be with other Christians and to be that much closer to God.

We need to go to church, not just on Christmas, Good Friday and Easter, but every week. I try to go every Sunday and if I miss a Sunday I try and make it up another day, so an average of once a week over the course of a year. That’s a personal commitment that I have made to myself. As a Christian community we are weaker if someone does not appear in church. We need everyone there to be a whole church.

Sometimes people say thing like the church would fall down if they were to walk in the doors. Well, I am willing to risk the danger, come to church and see if that happens. It won’t for Heaven rejoices for every lost sheep that is found. God wants us to visit him in His house. Certainly we should pray in forests and on beaches, but we should pray in God’s house weekly too; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

In these days of hurricanes, earthquakes, urban unrest, tsunami, avalanche, and all kinds of other disasters, it is important to stay prepared. Most of the preparation for one of these problems, will work for the others. Have at least a three day supply of food, water, and medicine at home. Have at least a one day supply of food and water at work and in your car. Put together a “go bag” that you can take with you from your home if you have to be evacuated. It should contain prescription information, deeds, marriage licenses, insurance and financial data, along with food, water, and medicine.

Over time, you should prepare for longer periods of time without food and water. A week is an easy goal to maintain and a month is a good idea. It is not hard to prepare this type of food and water supply. I get water bottles delivered once a month and I ordered one extra bottle each month. Over time I had enough water for three months. I store one water bottle in each bedroom closet, and a couple in the garage. The others I store near the water dispenser. Each bottle is dated when I receive it and I rotate through them as I replace the bottle on the dispenser so they stay fresh.

We shop at Sam’s Club and so we buy canned goods and dry goods in bulk. It is not unusual for us to buy a case of canned vegetables, a case of canned soup, and a case of dry pasta when we go shopping. Our plan has been to buy twice as much as we need of at least one item every time we shop. Over time we have built up about a months worth of food. It is a cheap and easy way to gather supplies. They are the things we normally eat and they get rotated through the usual menu, and are not separate from the daily food.

Too often when people try to prepare for a disaster food and water supply, they try to buy unique or specialized foods and water that are not what they usually eat. There is no reason to spend a lot of money on emergency supplies, nor should you buy foods you don’t usually eat. It helps to maintain your morale if you are eating foods you are familiar with instead of eating some strange freeze dried foods. Prepare now for the disaster that is sure to come sometime in your life; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Lottery Ticket

While watching CNN the other day the news story was about a group of workers who got together and purchased a winning lottery ticket. There was one employee who usually got in on the lottery pool but this time decided not to buy a ticket, so when the group won, he did missed out on a few million dollars. The anchor person said she was leaving us with a piece of advice, to always buy a lottery ticket when the other people at work are buying them as a group.

Why is CNN along with other news outlets urging us to buy lottery tickets? Many people consider gambling to be immoral. Many people have a problem with gambling and spend the rent money on a chance to win millions of dollars only to end up with nothing but debt. In California we has a state sponsored lottery run by a private company and a portion of the money collected goes to the public schools. At the time we were told this lottery would solve all the schools financial problems. I did not believe them and I voted against the lottery. Since I voted against the lottery I don’t play the lottery.

Now years later, the schools still claim they don’t have enough money, despite billions of dollars being spent on the lottery. Many lottery players are compulsive gamblers and their state sponsored addiction leaves them broke, divorced, and sometimes even homeless. Even those who win the lottery often end up a few years later broke having frittered away all the money; CNN and the main stream media never mention them. I think they should; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

At BYU they have a policy that says students are not permitted to have sex unless they are married to their partner. As a private school they should be allowed to adopt any standard they want to for their students. One of their sports stars has admitted to having sex with someone and now has been removed from the team.

The team has suffered dramatically as a result of his removal from the team. They have lost games they likely would have won had he been allowed to stay on the team. Part of the value of sports is having rules and following the rules. The player knew the rule and he broke the rule. As a result he is being punished. The player let the team down. The player let down the sports fans. The player let down the school. The responsibility here is with the player, not the school.

I always find it disturbing that we give a pass to sports stars, and movie and TV stars when they break a rule or violate a law. Sports starts who gamble on their games, use drugs, behave irresponsibly, should be banned from the sport forever. There is no excuse for these behaviors. We should be able to have our children look up to sports stars, not have to shield them from those who have promiscuous sex, commit rape, arrange dog fights, or even commit murder; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Christianity Only An Opinion,_just_don%E2%80%99t_act_on_it/page/full/

Christianity is a life style, not just something to think about on Sunday morning. The traditions of the Church and the Bible provide a blueprint for living. Honor God, love your neighbor, don’t commit murder, and love your enemies. These principles and many others have guided American and European culture for millennia.

Now a small minority in our society who don’t share mainstream Christian beliefs are telling the Christian majority to keep their beliefs to themselves. It started years ago with people claiming that you don’t discuss politics or religion in polite society. That is a good way to stop Christians from being open in their beliefs or views on social issues. This does not prevent leftists from discussing their social agenda. Then we are told that we cannot have prayer in schools, later this is expanded to exclude prayer in nearly any public social setting.

As this develops, Christians are being told to check their beliefs at the door. Don’t pray to Jesus. Don’t speak of your Christian belief. Don’t bring a Bible to class. Don’t wear a cross. Don’t vote your beliefs. Don’t ask for laws that reflect your Christian beliefs. Don’t listen to the voice of the devil; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Eye on China, Japan Builds up Defenses

Communist China created a huge trade surplus with the United States in recent years. Rather than simply improve the low standard of living of Chinese citizens, cleaning up their environmental messes and provide development aid to poor nations, they have decided instead on massive military development.

China has developed new techniques for asymmetrical warfare. Communist China has developed techniques to attack other nations’ computer systems. They are building an aircraft carrier to project Chinese power. China is building stealth aircraft and new missiles. As a result of this unprecedented Chinese arms buildup, Japan has felt threatened enough that they are also building up their military capability.

The Japanese are building their first aircraft carrier since the end of the Second World War. They are also building other naval assets and working on their own stealth aircraft. Despite the devastation of the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami, Japan will likely continue to increase spending to respond to this serious threat from Communist China. The US should continue to sell arms to the Japanese to help them keep us both safe from potential Chinese aggression; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Are Teachers Endangered?

Academic freedom, especially at the pre-graduate level, is highly overrated. Some high schools are now offering scripted classes. The class lesson plan is prepared at a central location by subject matter experts. Then the teacher only has to read the lesson plan to the students and they learn the information that is essential to the class. While the teacher still needs to have a working knowledge of the subject matter, they don’t have to be able to prepare lesson plans.

This system will insure more consistent teaching to the children and requires less educated instructors. This means that teachers can be paid less to do their jobs. It also means that the lesson plans can be better tailored to the needs of the standardized testing.

The other new teaching system in use now is the use of computer generated teaching. Computers have endless patience and so can teach and give feedback on performance without getting frustrated, angry or becoming insulting or rude to students who are slower. New teaching techniques are not a substitute for teachers who can inspire and coach their students. They are good methods to insure greater standardization and to reduce the training needed to provide quality instructors. These techniques can also help to reduce costs and in these days of tight budgets, that’s a good idea, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

President Obama indicated that the US should lease more offshore oil wells. Then the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill hit and people were worried about off shore oil drilling. Only one lease has been given since then. President Obama said that he US should look to nuclear energy to meet our domestic energy needs. Now the Japanese are in the middle of a major nuclear disaster. People are now called for shut downs of American nuclear plants and want no more nuclear power here in the USA.

It is important to remember that all kinds of energy production have drawbacks. Oil sends billions of dollars overseas, often to countries that are not friendly to the United States. Coal mines sometimes pollute water and air and coal must be transported on trains over long distances. Solar power is often generated using equipment made in Communist China, rather then employing Americans.

It is important to remember that the nuclear power plants in Japan are older than the Chernobyl plant and so don’t have the latest in safety protocols and designs. The newest plants are designed to be safe even if the power is shut down, and the coolant system malfunctions. We need nuclear power in the United States and we can design and build plants that are safe, clean and that don’t create a nuclear waste problem, that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

PG-13 Not Safe For Kids

In the 1930’s Hollywood produced some of the greatest films every made. They were subject to a strict code of censorship to keep out evil, immoral activity and words. After the Second World War the code was continually revised and finally abandoned. The code was replaced by the movie rating system. The stated intent was to allow filmmakers as artists to create better, more realistic, more adult films, and the rating system would aid parents in keeping their kids out of movies that were not suitable for them at their tender young age.

Since that time the rating system has continually been revised. Naturally, it has been revised downward so that the moral standard degenerates ever lower and lower. Movies that deal with prostitution and homosexual behavior used to be rated R. Now movies of that genre are rated PG-13. Do thirteen year olds really need to watch movies like that?

Movies that are rated R make less money than movies rated PG-13 that has been true for many years. So the pressure is on from studios to lower the standards for a PG-13 movie. That way they can sell soft core porn and decadent corrupt films to our youth. While certainly the parents bear the majority of the responsibility for what their kids see on the movie screen, responsible companies should market sleazy movies to kids; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Tell it to the Merchant Marines

There is a series of photos circulating around the Internet about a ship called the Emma Maersk. It is supposed to be a containership that carries goods from Communist China to the United States. Naturally the ship was neither built in the USA nor crewed by Americans, nor owned by an American steamship company. By the end of the Second World War the US had the largest merchant fleet in the world.

Now our merchant fleet is miniscule. We have permitted American companies to flag their ships as from Panama, or Liberia or Bahamas or other nations, rather than have them as American ships, with American crews paying American taxes. All the excessive regulation and union requirements have killed the merchant shipping industry. With America so dependant on trade we should have a large merchant marine. With unemployment so high, this would be a great time to look at the repeal of unnecessary regulation of the steamship industry.

Other nations ship goods all over world and today’s modern ships seldom sink or have problems. Obviously, there is a market for quality shipping services, but the US should not opt American carriers out of the industry by excessive regulation. Certainly we need to keep our citizens safe and protect the ocean environment, but other nations are taking our business and we need to put a stop to that; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Japan Stealth Fighter =

The Japanese are developing a stealth fighter because the Americans refused to sell them our own version. With the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan this might be a good time for both of use to re-evaluate that decision. The Japanese have been a good ally for the last fifty years. There is no reason to think they will not continue to be good allies.

With the expenses associated with the rescue and rebuilding effort, Japan would be better served by not spending the money to build and buy their own stealth fighter. The US has a terrible trade imbalance with many nations, including Japan. By selling the Japanese our stealth fighters we can help to re-dress that trade imbalance and help an important ally to both recover from disaster and defend themselves.

The US needs to look all over the world for new trade partners who will buy our products. We need to reduce our imports from Communist China, which are wildly out of control and not in our best interest. The US should work to import more items from India and South America, and get them to buy our goods, unlike the Chinese who simply take our technology and then make American designed goods for their own consumption. The US needs a better trade policy; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Case for Life

The founding fathers of our republic knew that everyone had the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It’s only liberals who cannot understand that every human is a valuable, individual soul who try and tell us that abortion is okay. Even they really don’t believe it, as evidenced by much of what they say about abortion. There is an instinctive knowledge that babies need to be protected, even in the womb.

I have heard liberals say that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. Why does it need to be rare? If the baby is not really a baby, but just tissue, then why does it matter how many abortions we have in this country? Cutting your hair and trimming your fingernails should be safe, legal and rare. That makes no sense. Neither does making abortion safe, legal and rare.

If you believe abortion should be safe, legal and rare, what are you doing to insure it is rare? We have over a million abortions in this nation every year. That does not sound very rare to me. Under what circumstances should abortion be forbidden or restricted if it truly needs to be “rare?” What public service announcements should be made to discourage abortion if we really want it to be “rare?” I see all the time that liberals are pushing to make sure abortion is legal, because it makes billions of dollars for liberal abortionist doctors, but I never see them working to make it “rare;” that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Mattell Waxing Shaving Doll

Girls should play with dolls that allow their alter egos to be fashion models and mommies. They should not play with dolls that have to be waxed and shaved. Little girls are pressured to become sexy and that’s just not right. It’s one thing to have a role model doll that dresses well and is glamorous, but it is another to require grooming beyond combing the dolls’ hair.

This new doll requires waxing and shaving and really goes beyond the traditional grooming requirements of a doll. This is part of a trend that has been going on in dolls for at least ten years of making girls dolls more and more tasteless and low brow. They are given tattoos, they dress in clothing that is not appropriate and the dolls often have small storylines that speak to a lifestyle on the edge of society.

These are not good role models for the future women of America. We need companies to stop trying to compete for the bottom of society, but rather for the top. Dolls should help girls to become women who can fulfill their societal roles with dignity, respect and uplift their spirit, not downgrade and degrade them; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Brandon Davies BYU

Brandon Davies decision: BYU not at fault for upholding honor code - NCAA Basketball - Sporting News

BYU has a policy that unmarried students are not supposed to have sex and if they do have sex, then they can’t play college sports. Ethics clauses used to be very common in professional sports and indeed in other professional contracts. It is good that at least one school is upholding traditional values. More schools need to hold students accountable for their irresponsible actions and this is a good start.

While teenage pregnancy and sex are down in recent years, the numbers are still far too high. We as a society have sexualized young people, even children and this is a trend that has destroyed childhood and innocence. We need to reverse this trend and let kids be kids. Little girls don’t need to dress like cheap prostitutes, with make up and provocative clothing. I have even seen babies with clothing that has suggestive words stenciled on their tee shirts, that’s just wrong.

Too many are blaming the victim in the BYU case. They complain that BYU is not winning games now that their star player has been removed for unethical behavior. Well, the university, the team, the fans, the other players are the victims, not the student who was booted from the team. He knew the consequences of his actions and made his choice of his own free will. Now others will suffer because of his bad choices. The player is not the victim, the people he let down are the victims; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Cheating Public Assistance

One of the techniques for budget cutting is to reduce theft. This family is alleged to have stolen well over a hundred thousand dollars from public assistance of various types over a period of eight years. That’s what they are being prosecuted for; the real total could be much higher. There needs to be better coordination between government agencies to determine eligibility for these programs.

I suggest that there be a central clearing house for information for those on public assistance. Check their identification by fingerprints to verify their identity, that way the same person can’t apply for benefits using several names. Then verify their income using Income Tax and Social Security records. This should all be computerized so that it only takes a few minutes to determine. The threshold for most programs should be standardized so that it is easier to determine if someone is eligible or not for assistance.

People who are on assistance for more than a short period of time, say a year or two, should be required to perform some kind of public work. They could be required to attend and pass job training, life skills training, how to look for work, or parenting classes. They could even perform day care for other low income people so they can go to work. As President Reagan used to say, the social safety net should not become a hammock; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Women Need Not Apply

If you are a woman working at Wal-Mart and they don’t promote you, and you think they should have promoted you, then quit and go to work for Target, or Kohls, or any other company that will appreciate your skills. If you are that good, then someone else will surely recognize your skills and put you to work. Even with 9% unemployment, 91% of Americans are still working, there are jobs out there. Don’t give your loyalty to a company that does not deserve your good work.

I never understood the mentality of people who stay at an abusive relationship when they don’t have to stay. Wal-Mart is just a job, it’s not a calling. There is no need to work there for ten, twenty years and watch them pass you by for promotions. For what ever reason, Wal-Mart has chosen to not promote many women employees. Perhaps they were not as qualified, perhaps they were not as suitable for the job as some man, maybe Wal-Mart really did simply discriminate against females in management and supervisory positions, I don’t know.

There are plenty of companies out there who promote women without regard to gender. If you are concerned about missing a promotion, don’t sue the company, get out of the company. They don’t deserve you, don’t force them to take someone they don’t want, instead, walk out on them and never look back. If you are that good, your working for a competitor will make the company lose business and hurt them economically. Tell all your job seeking friends to go with your new company. Tell all those you shop with that the old company does business in a fashion you consider immoral. We as a society have to stop running to lawyers to solve every problem. We need to take action ourselves to solve our own issues. Get ahead by personal excellence, not a by lawsuit; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Anchors Away

Anyone who is a citizen of the United States who has a child, that child should be a citizen of the United States. Anyone who is illegally in the United States who has a child in the United States should not have that child become a citizen. Unfortunately, that law permits anyone who is born in the US to become a citizen simply by having been born here, even if their parents should not have been here in the first place. This law should be changed so that illegal aliens, or people on vacation, or people working here on a temporary job should not have children who are automatic American citizens.

In the US, we manage our growth by immigration so that we can manage our public outlays and quality of life. If we allow anyone to come here and fount our laws so they can make their kids citizens, then we are allowing foreigners to control our immigration policy. Americans should retain self-determination in immigration affairs and that includes who gets to be a citizen and who does not become a citizen.

Americans need to control our borders. The terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 were illegal aliens. We have over 9% unemployment and many jobs are being taken from Americans and given to illegal aliens. We have illegal aliens committing crimes, from simply driving without a driver’s license to robbery, rape and even murder of police officers. We need to change our rules for becoming a citizen to a requirement that the parents also be citizens, we need to build a physical border fence, we need to require local police to enforce immigration laws; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

US Citizens Toss Passports as IRS Seeks Assets

Many people have dual citizenship with the United States and another nation. The US has high taxes and has a president who seems to want to increase taxes, particularly on those who make more than an average income. Since the president has never had a real job and has never had to make a payroll he does not understand business. He does not comprehend that high taxes drive out business and the rich.

Over a thousand people who have dual citizenship have determined that our taxes are so high that they are willing to renounce US citizenship rather than pay our oppressive tax rates. So rather than get more money from these people, we get less. We get less because they are no longer subject to the same taxes as they paid when they were citizens of the United States.

While I still believe this is the greatest nation in the world, there is much wrong with this country. One of those problems is our tax rates are too high. I support a flat tax with no deductions; everyone pays the same rate. Even the poor receive benefits from living in this nation and should pay taxes. That way they have a vested interest in making sure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. With a flat rate and no deductions we don’t have to pay large sums of money to tax preparation companies, their jobs can go away and their workers can go do productive work; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

More Nuclear Power

Oil often seems to come from very disturbed parts of the world. Nigeria is a very poor nation despite billions of dollars in oil revenue. The Middle East and North Africa is in political and religious turmoil. Venezuela is run by an autocrat who often makes anti-American pronouncements. America depends far too much on foreign oil. I fully support solar power, geothermal power generation as well as hydroelectric and of course, nuclear.

Nuclear power is very safe. In Japan they had a huge earthquake, followed by a tsunami. As a result several nuclear power plants are in danger. These plants are over forty years old; they were built years before the Chernobyl disaster. They were unable to take advantage of much of what we learned as a result of that nuclear accident.

Even so, the radiation so far has been less than that of a CT scan. The containment vessel is holding the nuclear core intact. All this after an unprecedented series of disasters, the earthquake cut power, then over a dozen generators kicked in to keep the coolant going but the tsunami came along and destroyed the generators. Then the battery back up came on line but power could not be restored before the batteries died. Despite all this the atomic scientists and technicians were able to keep the core cool and created a huge exclusion zone to keep people safe. Modern nuclear reactors don’t work this way. They are designed to cool themselves if the power is shut down. Nuclear power, safe, clean and right for America; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Open Borders Should be Exit Only

There used to be a common bumper sticker, “America, love it or leave it.” I support that sticker for every nation in the world. Iran, Venezuela, Myanmar, Cuba, love it or leave it.” People who want to leave oppressive nations should be allowed to leave without restraint. The only consideration is that there should be a country that wants to take them.

People in every country should be allowed to leave their country if they are not wanted criminals. I support open borders as exit only. As long at the recipient country wants to take them as an immigrant. Too many nations, like Libya, North Korea, and Cuba are totalitarian states that both oppress their people and don’t let them leave the country. If a nation prevents its people from leaving to go to places that are willing and able to take them; that’s a good sign that you are dealing with a totalitarian nation that oppresses its people.

Nations that won’t let my people go have historically been the most oppressive. The Jews in Egypt in Biblical times suffered the oppression of Pharaoh. The people of East German had to be hemmed in with walls, guards and land mines and dogs to keep them in that Communist dictatorship. Any nation that won’t let their people leave should be looked upon as denying their people a basic human right; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Open Borders Is Racist

Open borders policy of President Obama is racist. The illegal aliens that come into the USA to work mostly take low paying entry jobs. American Blacks drop out of high school at a much greater rate than other races in the USA. Ordinarily they would work at low paying entry jobs. After a time they would gain work experience, then perhaps go back to school or take training given by their employers. Eventually they would be able to promote to higher and better paying positions.

Unemployment with young male Blacks in America is higher now than at any time in decades. Illegal immigration is also at one of the highest levels in decades. These mostly Mexican immigrants are in large part doing jobs that those young male Black Americans could be doing if they were not being taken by Mexicans. Certainly it is a reasonable business choice to hire an adult Mexican with experience than it is to hire a teenage Black man with no work experience.

We have to make it more difficult for businesses to hire illegal aliens. Every company must be required to verify the Social Security number and identity of their employees within three days of hire. The penalty for failure to do this should be significant; a fine a hundred dollar per person is not unreasonable. The penalty for failure to do this resulting in the hiring of an illegal alien should be catastrophic, a penalty of ten thousand dollars per person per year of work is certainly reasonable. Simple paperwork errors should not be criminal offenses. The employers should be required to copy their employees paperwork presented as documentation and it should be kept in their personnel fie and updated every couple years. The Internal Revenue Service, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Social Security Administration and other government agencies should be able to check the status of every worker every year by cross referencing their data basis annually. If the computer checks raise red flags then they can send investigators out to the companies to verify the information. Protect our border and protect our people; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

NATO Seizes Iranian Arms En Route to Afghanistan There has been evidence almost from the beginning of the War in Iraq that Iran has been helping our enemies. They have been sending arms to those in Iraq, and training fighters to return to Iraq. Now, NATO has intercepted arms that were intended for use in Afghanistan. Iran has exported these weapons to keep the US and NATO tied up in Afghanistan, to kill Americans and to kill those who support the new government.

Iran continues to act as a rogue nation. They are working towards the ability to build nuclear weapons. They are doing this despite condemnation from many other nations. They have been sending weapons to the Taliban to fight against American interests in both Afghanistan, and Iraq.

The United States and NATO needs to make it clear to Iran that there is a price to pay for continued attempts to kill American and NATO troops and endanger Western Europe with nuclear weapons. President Obama made the failure of the Bush Administration to stop the Iranian nuclear program a big issue in the election campaign? What is the president going to do to stop Iran nuclear ambitions? What is the president going to do to stop Iranian arms from flowing into Iraq and Afghanistan? The main stream media and the president may have forgotten these problems, but I am still watching them here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

Whales & Alligators

Everyone likes whales. They are big and intelligent and harmless and cute. Alligators like whales too, since researchers found a giant alligator twenty miles off shore swimming with the whales. Some whales catch fish and so follow the schools, other whales are small and could fall prey to an alligator. No one knows exactly why this alligator was out in the open ocean with whales.

The researchers found the alligator and then tried to get him to swim towards the shore. The alligator was very large and their boat was very small. Alligators are very dangerous and powerful animals and this one could have easily capsized their boat. The alligator showed no signs of stress, weakness or disease. He seemed perfectly fine; expect that he was twenty miles from shore and still swimming out to sea. No one knows if the alligator had done this before, if it was normal, if he would turn around and go back at some point or if alligators do this all the time and it’s just not observed very often.

The alligator was not in any obvious distress. The alligator was not bothering any humans. The alligator was not unable to turn around and swim back to shore if it wanted to do so. Despite this the scientists decided they knew what was best and interfered with the alligator trying to get him to turn around. They risked their lives and bothered the alligator trying to get him to turn around. They failed to turn him around and to this day have no idea what happened to him. I think they should have just left the alligator alone. It was big and old and powerful and if it wanted to swim with whales, then that’s the alligators business; it’s about freedom, not interference by scientists who know very little but want to run others lives anyway. Not unlike global warming I think; that’s the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.
