And the gasoline of millions of others who have to sit and wait in traffic. It is the duty of the Department of Transportation to provide safe and efficient movement of traffic. By failing to build transportation systems that can accommodate the traffic we have, they have failed to live up to their mandate. The most important things the government does is those things that we can't do for ourselves. I can't build a freeway, or street. It is the duty of the government to do those tasks that they are mandated to do. When they don't do their jobs, we all suffer. If a million people drive to work every day and have to spend two hours in traffic because we don't have enough lanes, or freeways or the traffic lights are not synchronized, then we have lost two million man hours of time. Two million hours that people could have slept in, spent time with their children, or even done more work. Two million hours that trucks are not moving goods to market, materials to construction sites, and even trash to the dump. People want freeways, with enough lanes to take them rapidly to where they need to go. Not zillions of dollars for light rail, heavy rail, monorail or any of that. Those projects never pay for themselves, like roads do. We pay billions of dollars in gasoline taxes and those monies need to be spent on roads; that's what I see in my rear view mirror, here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

Will Prop. 8 be retroactive? Opinions differ (OneNewsNow.com) Jerry Brown who fully supports gay marriage says the law will not be retroactive if it passes in November. Why not? Other laws are made retroactive when a judges ruling is overturned. This "law" was made by the interpretation of a judge not by the legislature or by the people. Once again the liberals are doing all they can to play politics and to get their way no matter what happens. The end justifies the means and when they can't get the people or the legislature to vote in favor of an issue they go to the courts to invent new meanings to words and to laws to suit their agenda. Clearly, when the marriage laws were written 150 years ago they intended for marriage to be between a man and a woman. Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant or lying, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Radical Islam and a Survey of World Militarys

I think the US Army is the best in the world. The Indian Army is very under-rated and the Chinese study asymmetrical warfare as a way to redress the imbalance between them and Western nations.

Western Europe likes to talk but does not like to actually do anything, with the exception of the UK. Eastern Europe is again worried about Russia which is flexing it's muscles. Japan is an important and powerful regional power but with a declining population may not be able to be very helpful.

Radical Islam is a real danger to the West. Too many in the West refuse to realize that there are those who want them dead simply because they are a different religion. Too many in the West apologize for Iran and try to tell us what their leaders really mean to say when they tell us they want to destroy Israel, and conquer the West. Israel has an excellent reputation, but then they are a First World nation that has been fighting Third World nations for 50 years. They also have a blank check from the USA to buy more supplies. That makes the logistics easier. The US military never lost a significant battle in Vietnam, but the politicians would never allow them to go for the kill, just as in Korea. Fighting a defensive war is a recipe for disaster, simply wait for every attack and then recover afterwards. Whoever tires first loses. Democracies tire easily, totalitarian systems do not. The next American president must be able to continue this war for the long haul, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Chicken Contract

In the United States we celebrate the contributions of labor to the success of the American dream with a Labor Day holiday. But now it seems that some in organized labor don't think that is important anymore. They think that Eid al-Fitr is more important than our traditional American holiday. Eid al-Fitr is the end of the Muslim observance of Ramadan. The workers at the Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer take off for Labor Day but will take off a Muslim religious holiday instead. Apparently 700 of the 1,200 employees are Muslims and wanted that holiday off so they negotiated it as part of their contract. Something to look forward to when Muslims are the majority of voters in the USA in a few years? Seems like the traditional American values are going by the wayside more and more frequently. Now they skip Labor Day. The next time the contract comes up what will be next? Working on Christmas so they can have some other day off? They then get a huge loan on the home, spend all the money and are now going to lose their home and we are supposed to feel sorry for them? Should we all get together and buy them another house? How many free houses should you get? All too often people in poverty are their because they consistently make poor decisions. If a person is going to get a major financial windfall, like a new home, perhaps it is best if there are strings attached. Strings that prevent them from losing the home as soon as they get it. Perhaps the home could have been placed in some kind of trust or escrow that could prevent them from putting a mortgage on the house for a few years. I am all for charity and particularly private charity. Education is important and perhaps even supervision to keep these people from making more bad choices and ending up in poverty again, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Didn't Bill Clinton's people tell us he was okay because his problems were personal? This woman is being judged because of the political beliefs of her husband and ex-husband. Is that a proper way to determine who you wish to hire? Can we start putting that on job applications now, what is the political affiliation of your spouse? I am not in the least bit surprised that the Chinese will spy on athletes and tourists and anyone else who shows up for the Olympics. I suspect they spy on anyone who visits China during normal times too, just in case they do something that is interesting to them. Totalitarian nations like China spy on their own people and visitors all the time. That they would do so during the Olympics should not surprise us. Too often in the US people think of China as our "friend" because we do a lot of business with them. It used to be that our movie stars supported the military and would even fight in our wars. Many big stars joined the service in the Second World War. Many more toured overseas and entertained our troops. Today this seems to be out of fashion and few big names feel the need to go visit our soldiers. In WWII, Korea and Viet Nam, Bob Hope took large tours of the combat zones to bring a bit of joy to our soldiers. Marilyn Monroe visited the soldiers in Korea and Ann Margaret entertained them in Viet Nam. Where are Madonna and Brittany and all the others? Too many now sit at home so self absorbed that they cannot bring themselves to visit the troops who fight for their freedom. Even worse are those actors who speak out against the war and as hypocrites claim they support the troops. If you don't like the Patriot Act, you're really gonna hate Sharia Law. Under the Patriot Act, you can go to prison for impersonating a member of the Red Cross. Under Sharia Law you can be killed for being critical of Islam. Under the Patriot Act you must account for large sums of cash taken out of the United States. Under Sharia Law a man may divorce a woman by text messaging her. Under the Patriot Act the Government may provide the names of terrorist suspects to airlines to prevent the suspected terrorists from boarding an airplane. Under Sharia Law non-Muslims are required to perform many of the practices of Islam. Under the Patriot Act, any Federal District Court Judge may issue warrants in cases of suspected terrorism. Under Sharia Law a woman who is raped may be executed if she cannot provide four witnesses to the crime. Under the Patriot Act the vast majority of Americans have seen no real erosion of their civil or criminal rights, no day to day change of their lifestyles in any way. Under Sharia Law the life of every American would change dramatically, and not for the better, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

I would think that the media would at least be worried about a controlled press, if nothing else, but they want access to the country so they can't say anything bad. Watching the Olympics from China we are told how nice China is, and even Presidential Candidate Obama says how modern their airports and infrastructure is compared to Americas. Too bad they don't look beyond the Olympic village. This would be the time with tens of thousands of people in China for the Olympics to go out into the countryside and towns and talk to people while the spy's and secret police are busy watch Olympians. Too bad the media won't do that, too concerned about access in the future. China controls what their people can see on the Internet, but again our media refuses to publicize that. All we hear is how wonderful China is, and how wonderful Castro is, perhaps they can tell us about how great North Korea is too, except they can't get into the country. The article says that items were improperly stored and so were able to ignite. So someone failed to do their job by storing these items properly and another person smokes where they should not and a billion dollar aircraft carrier is out of service during a time of war. Even in time of peace an aircraft carrier is a dangerous place. Smoking and storage of flammable products are both critical to safety on an aircraft carrier. Perhaps the Navy should consider not allowing smoking on board at anytime. That's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

One woman had a doctor implant her so she could have a child, she ended up with twins. The twins were born perfect and healthy, just the sort of children parents pray for when they have children. This "couple" of lesbians are unhappy because they only wanted one child so, naturally, they sue. This is typical of why our society is falling apart. Two lesbians are not a family and should not be raising children. Children need to be raised in family's composed of a man and a woman who are legally married to each other. Surrogate parenthood should not happen. If God wants you to have children you will have them. If you don't have children, then adopt one. Our society has allowed all kinds of unnatural relationships to develop and now we are clogging the courts trying to figure out what happened and how to fix the problems. A man and a woman should get married, have children and raise them. The children are the most important thing, and so they should stay together for the sake of the children and subsume their own lives until the children are adults. That is the ideal that I strive for here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

The problem is he is no longer licensed to practice medicine, did not develop the artificial heart alone, and does not row. Other than that, the perfect spokesman for the product; or not. Does it matter that some TV or movie star or sports personality endorses a product that is not related to what they do? I have never been sure why having some movie star tell me a particular car is a good one is of any real value. What do movie stars know about cars? Too many companies use spokespersons who they hope will give some value to the product. Before you let some fancy spokesperson convince you a product is worthwhile, ask why this person was chosen and why they have a particular expertise in the product or service being advertised. Female Bombers Kill Dozens in Iraq - AOL News In Iraq the enemy used to use tanks and artillery. We defeated that. Then they turned to small groups of gunmen and we defeated that. Then they used improvised explosive devices, and we defeated that. Then the enemy tried using suicide bombers but we were able to inspect the men and defeat that strategy. Now the enemy have stooped so low that they are using women in burkas as suicide bombers to avoid having security forces search them and find the bombs. They know that male security officials are reluctant to search women because naturally we are trying to be sensitive to the sensibilities of Muslim women. The enemy have been very good at finding our weaknesses and we have been very good at closing those gaps. The Iraqi police are training hundreds of female officers to search women to prevent female suicide bombers. This military mission is drawing to a close. It takes about five to eight years to train and build police force from scratch and we have been there almost long enough to get that job done. No matter what happens we will need to keep troops there probably for my lifetime, but their involvement in combat operations will gradually diminish until the Iraqi army and eventually the Iraqi police can handle things, that's my view here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

Now another documentary comes out at taxpayer expense to attack the beliefs of those taxpayers! If someone wants to make a documentary that says what I believe is false, why should I have to pay for it? As usual these projects would likely never be made if they had to raise private funds and would never make a profit so public television feels the need to jump in and provide a platform for fringe groups. When was the last time that PBS did a documentary in support of creationism? Or did a documentary on Biblical archeology? Probably never. Why? Because it supports the mainstream beliefs of most of the taxpayers they don't feel it is a worthy subject. It is bad enough to have the main stream media constantly pounding away at traditional beliefs without having to have our own taxes pay for it. Public television may have served a valid purpose thirty or forty years ago, but I don't think it is needed any longer. With satellite television and cable TV in most American home, bringing hundreds of channels never dreamed of forty years ago, the Public Broadcasting Corporation should be sold off to private interests and not see another dime of public money. That's what I am hoping to watch here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

I think this guide should be used not only for comic books but every form of entertainment, television, movies, books and magazines. I see nothing in that code that would prevent creativity or free expression of any worthwhile idea. '"In every instance good shall triumph over evil and the criminal punished for his misdeeds." How wonderful that a comic book should be used as a mode of teaching that will instruct our children that moral behavior is correct and that evil is not acceptable, nor desirable. Too often we are given movies where the bad guy is the good guy and the good guy is an anti-hero. Movies where police, priests, corporate executives are always shown as corrupt and evil. Yet, we are at war and our enemies are rarely if ever depicted and if they are shown, they are not shown as evil, nor are they punished. Centuries ago plays were presented and expected to provide both entertainment and a morale example. We were to be instructed on codes of behavior and given examples of brave men, virtuous women who we could emulate. Now too often we get smart mouthed kids who smoke dope and have promiscuous sex, slackers who don't do well at school and they are the ones our children want to be like. Then we act surprised that our society has problems with rude behavior, illegal drug abuse, abortion, teenage pregnancy, STDs. and a poor work ethic. No surprise here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

Would Be Bride Gets Big Bucks Instead

Or did she just run to her attorney to get money? People get engaged, and sometimes it does not work out. That is how life is, sometimes things just don't go the way we expect them to go. If the bride paid for any wedding expenses it does not seem unreasonable to ask the groom to pay for half of them if he changes his mind. If she incurred expenses because she moved or quit her job then she should just live with it. If she was that good of an employee then perhaps her old boss will take her back. Pre-marital counseling is a good idea for those who are considering getting married. People should not get engaged unless they are fully mature adults who are able and willing to take responsiblity for their own actions. Marriage "is not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, soberly, and in the fear of God." I doubt that these two heeded that advice, that's what I recommend for others wishing to marry, here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

In all of Christian history it has been one man and one unrelated woman. When the marriage law was written in the middle of the 19th Century no one intended that marriage would be between two men or two women. They did not write the law to exclude that because everyone knows what constitutes marriage. This is another case of judges ignoring common sense, and the history of centuries to make their own agenda. Judges need to review the legislative history of a law and the practice and precedent of the law before they hand down a decision. The legislatures need to make the laws, especially when they involve significant changes in society, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Could it be that they are so concerned that Iran will develop and use nuclear weapons that they want their troops removed to a safer location? This is so typical of liberal appeaser types. They tell us we have to rely on negotiations with regimes that hate us and don't want anything from us except our destruction. We talk and talk seemingly forever. We are told we can't attack because the negotiation are making progress. The enemy plays us for the fools we are, continuing to work on their nuclear program. Then suddenly the enemy is thought to have actually developed nuclear weapons and then we can't attack them because they have one or two nuclear weapons and continue to talk because they don't have a means to deliver them and the talks are making progress. Eventually we are told the talks have broken down but we can't attack because the enemy has too many nuclear weapons and has developed the means to deliver them. Talk is not an end in itself. Nations that want peaceful nuclear power should always have their facilities open for international inspection or face immediate sanctions and very soon face attack if they don't permit the inspections. In a time of international extremist Muslim terror attacks that is the least we should require, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

MCCAIN: PUMP THIS! - Yahoo! News Drill for oil. I was watching the Mary Tyler Moore show for the last several weeks with my wife, we have four seasons worth of it filmed in the 1970's. How interesting that many of the episodes mention the energy crisis and the high price of gasoline. I hope that 30 years from now my daughter and her husband won't be watching some show from today and complaining that we never fixed the energy problems that we have now. I hope we drill more in Alaska and off shore and add more nuclear energy. I got an email from my Senator and she says the Democratic controlled Congress is making more energy available by passing more regulations and increasing taxes. It is good to know that they are taking steps to solve the problem of a shortage of cheap energy. I know if there are more regulations most people will avoid entering that business, so I am not sure how more regulations will help. They are also planning on taxing the business that sell oil. I am not sure how increasing taxes will decrease the price of gasoline. Just a few weeks ago there were proposals to cut the gasoline tax, but they want a tax on oil company profits. I thought the job of companies was to make profits for the stock holders? If you tax the oil company profits, what will they use to pay for oil exploration? None of this makes any sense here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

The people who authorized the advertising then claim they did not realize that it was going to be a gay campaign. If you are paying for an advertising campaign then you should review all the materials that will be published prior to them being shown to the public. If these ads were not reviewed before they were published, then the people who ordered them failed to do basic due diligence. How do they know the ad agency even spelled their name correctly? The people who ordered these ads need to resign just for incompetence. The "gay lifestyle" is immoral. It should not be the subject of advertising. Do we advertise that locations are friendly for people who cheat on their spouses? That a state or hotel chain is a "cheater friendly" location? We don't because the behavior is immoral, and the same should be true of gay lifestyle advertising, that's what I think here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

English Only

English Only in classrooms has nothing to do with failing to teach foreign languages to American kids. It is an immersion method of teaching foreign kids in American schools. It is the opposite of the failed "bilingual education" techinque. So Mr. Obama is either incorrect or lying about that when he says he opposes English Only in the classroom because he wants our kids to learn Spanish. There is nothing wrong about American kids learning other languages, I took Spanish in school, my wife Pat took French, my daughter, Sarah took French also. Our kids should be encouraged to learn Chinese, Japanese, French, German, even Russian, languages that have great value in the modern world. Science and industry and diplomacy will not be conducted in Spanish, you only need Spanish to talk to your gardener or maid. The USA should not become a bilingual nation in the sense of Canada or other nations that have done that. It only leads to divisions and separatists movements, even revolutions. That's what I have to say here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

McCain's Convention Nightmare - Political Machine Only McCain has convention nightmares. Obama will have none. Certainly the Democrats are so united fully that Hillary will have no people creating problems for Obama. HA! I suspect that the Clinton people will fight and claw and sneak every opportunity to create havoc behind the scenes. McCain has won the primary elections with a huge advantage over the other candidates. The few Republicans who may challenge him are very fringe people. By the time they get to the convention I anticipate they will have selected a vice-president and the entire convention will go smoothly. If Ron Paul or others think they are going to address the convention and disrupt the proceedings, they will probably find themselves making their speech at three o'clock in the morning when no one will be watching. This story is typical of the media not really reporting news but reporting their biased opinion as if it were news. They are making a prediction of what may happen and yet pretending as if that were a news story. The news media is supposed to inform us of what happened, rather they too often get bored with that and tell us what they think may happen in the future, that's what I see in the tea leaves here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

They work 40 or more hours per week, then put in ten or twenty hours of overtime and then work their days off. They work at home, they commute for hours each day. They don't eat right and they don't get enough sleep. They spend little time with their families. Loyalty to a company is an important trait for employees. They should not bad mouth the company in public or to the customers. They should do a good job and not steal from the company, or violate company policies. Employees need to keep in mind that work is not typically an end in itself. We work so we can provide for ourselves and our families. Rarely do most of us do anything that is particularly important that can't wait until tomorrow to finish. Few people say on their deathbed that they wished they had spent more time at the office and less time at home. Keep your goals in mind and don't let overwork kill you, because you can't finish the job from the grave, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Media outlets often try and claim they are not biased but they are, if they tell a story do they tell both sides? Do you really want the media to give equal time to the murder of small children? Bias simply is the reflection of our values. Bias can be shown in many ways. The next time you see an article about George Bush, look at the photo. What is he doing? Frequently they will show a photo that has him sneezing, coughing, or in some other way making a funny face or in an odd posture. So the article itself may generally be neutral but be illustrated with a very bias photo. One other way that media show bias is they give coverage to fringe groups. I remember years ago working security at a Federal office building when there was a Communist rally. Three Communists showed up to protest Federal policy and they had all the media there, TV, radio and newspapers, for three people. I never saw any of the coverage mention that only three people showed up. They showed only closeup photos with many signs, each Communist had three signs to make it appear there were more of them, so you could not tell how few were there. They quoted the Communists saying they were going to have a rally with hundreds of thousands in a couple weeks and this was the start of that protest. Bias, is not just what you say, but what you show and what you leave out; that's the very biased view here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

Women cut their hair and wear pants, and act like men, then can't understand why they are not attractive to men. Men wear their hair long, wear earrings, wear makeup and then act surprised that they are not attractive to women. This is not rocket science, it is just common sense, but then common sense is not around in large quantities anymore. Women want a man, who will take care of them and provide security. That is not what the women's liberation movement will tell you, but that's what I will tell you here at the Hysterical Right Wing.

Is Retiring Early Unpatriotic? - AOL Money & Finance Do we now have to work until the grave to keep Social Security solvent? Do we have to pay taxes forever to keep the government running? What ever happened to making a contribution to society by working hard until you are in your 60's and then getting to enjoy life? If people have made enough money to keep themselves off the dole, they should be able to retire and enjoy themselves. They don't have to quit making a contribution to society, just because they are not working for wages. A lady I know volunteers at church to serve on the altar guild and she babysits her grandchildren. By providing a sitter for the grand kids, her adult children can work and make their contribution. They know that the grand kids are being supervised by a woman who will take good care of them. Many retired people provide services to their communities for free. They work at hospitals providing directions, running the gift shop; work for police departments helping to direct traffic, file papers. Just because you are not working for pay does not mean you are now doing real work that helps real people, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Of course, it only takes a fraction of a second for a burglar to turn around, or reposition in a dynamic gun fight. This is not the wild west of the movies, this is real life. It is not about facing down the criminal in the street it is about protecting your life and your property. It is about keeping the thugs from stealing your hard earned property to feed their drug habits or their slothful lifestyles. He did not just shoot him in the back, he shot him in his yard. The question is not why did he shoot the bad guy in the back, the question is why was the bad guys back in his yard? It is easy for rich attorneys and media types who live in safe neighborhoods, gated communities, with private security guards and patrols to say that a man cannot defend his property. Some crook steals several thousand dollars of property from a middle class man has stolen months of his life, the time it took to earn that money, the time it took away from his home and family to get that money. He has stolen a part of his life. Deadly force encounters are very dynamic, they change every second. It is difficult to understand the perceptions of the persons involved. One fact is clear in this case, the shooter did not go to church and gun down men as they sat praying in the pews. He was shooting criminals in the act of criminal behavior. Perhaps if more criminals were afraid of being gunned down in the streets by homeowners they would seek a safer line of work, that's the view from the Hysterical Right Wing.

Moms choose time in a bath over time with their kids because they already have time with their kids. They want a bit of a break. Mothers love their children and want to spend time with their children more than anything else. But even when you love your kids, they do take a lot of energy to care for properly. Moms need a little time to recharge so that they can do a better job of caring for their children. They don't ask for more time with their kids because they already spend the day with their children. They want something different that is relaxing. So they pick having a nice, warm, relaxing bath. A few minutes of quiet time alone at home. Once they are done, they can go back immediately to caring for their children. I am always annoyed by the mainstream media that tries to spin everything so that it appears that women who care for their children are not fulfilled. It is as if they feel guilty for not having children of their own and picking jobs in the media, so they look for evidence that they made the right choice, even though they know better, just like I do here at the Hysterical Right Wing.
